A Swiss hotel once displayed a list of special rules exclusively for Indian guests which I personally saw and was appalled. Today, videos of garba in restaurants, loud conversations in airports, and turning aircraft cabins into picnic spots keep doing the rounds. Even in Davos, an Indian businessman blasted Punjabi music in a club so the whole town could hear it, calling it “soft power” but to everyone’s annoyance. Japan earned global admiration through their courtesy and civic sense. If India wants to be a true global superpower, the world should remember Indians for its excellence, consideration and respect for others. Our civic sense seriously needs to be upgraded.

हर दिन ऐसी ख़बरों से सामना है। बीजेपी के मुस्लिम नेताओं और प्रवक्ताओं को देखना चाहिए। उन्हें देख कर लगता है सब ठीक है। कभी देखा नहीं कि बीजेपी के मुस्लिम प्रवक्ता ऐसे मसलों पर लिखने की हिम्मत कर पा रहे हैं। गोदी मीडिया के बक्से में बंद रह कर कुछ भी सपोर्ट करने से अच्छा है ऐसी घटनाओं का संज्ञान लें। सरकार और प्रशासन से बात करें। बीजेपी में ही नेता अपनी जाति के पक्ष में खड़ा होता ही है। बीजेपी के मुस्लिम नेता भी बोल सकते हैं। अगर यह सब दिखाई देता है और साहस है तो। मीडिया में ख़बर छपने और ट्वीट करने से कुछ असर नहीं हो रहा है। हर दिन ऐसी घटनाओं को देखना भी हताशा और शर्म से गुजरना हो गया है।

@vikasbanafar @khanumarfa अगर ये आदमी सच में ऐसा कर रहा है तो इसे कानून के तहत सजा मिलनी भी चाहिए। लेकिन जब हिंदू दुकानदार अपनी चीजों में या उन पर गाय के मुत्र का छिड़काव करते हैं तब आप जैसे लोग कुछ भी नहीं करते। वो तो इससे भी ज्यादा घिनौना है.

A woman named Padma Shree from Mysore has uploaded a video where she filmed branding a group of people as 'illegal Bangladeshi immigrants' without producing any proof. In the video, the people being filmed repeatedly say they are Indians from Assam, yet their words are ignored while they are publicly humiliated and branded as 'Illegal Bangledeshis'. Is this now normalised? To randomly target, record, and vilify people based on appearance and language? Such vigilantism can endanger innocent citizens and fuel hatred against people from the Northeast and Bengali speaking communities. I was born in Korea in 1986, and in 2009, I left Christianity and entered Islam. Even after converting, I studied Islam for more than ten years while traveling through several Middle Eastern countries. I studied for my own sake, because I could not allow myself to believe in a false religion. So please be assured: Islam is indeed the religion of truth. I believe Islamophobia is not merely ignorance, but a kind of illness. I, too, had many strange prejudices about Islam when I was a Christian. But after breaking free from those prejudices, my health improved and my life changed. A life without Islam is not truly living. Even if I were offered hundreds of billions, I would never abandon Islam. I cannot even imagine a life without Islam.
