The plot thickens- Young Don’s final stop before Atheism was a man named Luke’s discord restorationist cult. (He ended up attending this church) Luke convinced Don the church fell away via debates @JPuncut hosted. Once he was convinced by this cult the church had fallen- the logical conclusion is Christianity was false.

@PageauJonathan @Alex_Ortodoxie I fear these ideas of “once saved always saved” and “the elect” lull too many into quiet apostasy, abandoning their faithfulness while relying on mere “faith.”

The schizophrenic guy in the mental hospital knows beyond a doubt that he is Napoleon. That doesn't make him Napoleon. True story, a Calvinist friend of mine once told me she no longer went to church. When I asked her why, she told me that she did not have "assurance of her salvation", which according to her beliefs meant that she was not saved, not one of God's "elect", and therefore there was no reason to go to church. Her logic was implacable, she was a Calvinist without being a Christian.

@PageauJonathan @derekbalsley Yes, the terms are different. Basics questions can help get past those differences. Do you know, beyond a doubt, where you're going when you die?

@needGod_net @Acts17David You’re kicking the can down the road. What evidence? And who decides the weight each piece of evidence has in the decision to include each book? And who has binding authority to declare a decision for the church?

Did the Catholic or Eastern Orthodox church "decide" the Biblical canon? @Acts17David: " If your church is just saying, 'Hey, we're arbitrarily deciding what the correct scriptures are,' then no, I shouldn't trust."

@needGod_net The Protestant position is that you just have to believe really hard once in your life then God overwrites your will and you spontaneously produce good works as evidence of your salvation. Continuing to sin is ok but if you do it too much you “weren’t really saved.”

Would you still be a Christian knowing that Christianity was mostly spread by sword and Europe, after adopting it, entered a Thousand-year Dark Ages that completely hindered scientific advancement?

@ReddCinema I used to have the cotton plants at my home. For those who don't know, there is a black seed stuck between the cotton and removing that is a irritating part.

@MICAH_SIXEIGHT @patristicpill One of the key emphases in the epistles is the fellowship of Christians with each other. Why would death prevent us from fellowship with past Christians? Is death strong enough to sunder the Body of Christ?

@patristicpill They are on the other side of heaven. Made alive in Christ. That's why you pray to Him. They are in Him, not alone. No need to bypass Jesus to get a message to someone who is in Him.

If the Body of Christ is alive, then the saints are alive. If the saints are alive, they can pray. If they can pray, asking them to pray is not idolatry. The Protestant objection only works if death is stronger than union with Christ.

@patristicpill This is incorrect. Protestants believe the individual books held their own authority before they were compiled. People came along after the fact and verified their authenticity to the best of their abilities. A process any of us could do today. We have the same info they did.

Both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox claim to be the "one true Church" with apostolic succession on their side. Both ask: "Would the Holy Spirit allow the Church to fall into error for 1500 years?" My answer: Yeah, I think He would - Just the same as Israel was allowed to fall into error time and time again. The fact that the 2 split in 1054 and both claim exclusive fidelity to the apostles means, logically, at least one of them has been wrong for nearly 1,000 years. They can't both be right. This should motivate Protestants to dig into Scripture and church history. One (or both) of these institutions has error on important points. Scripture, being God's Word, is our anchor for everything. This is not the strawman of "every Christian for 1500 years went to hell before Martin Luther came along." Christ has always saved His people by grace through faith - even when the visible institutions went off the rails.

@PeterLowrie12 @farmingandJesus I need to apologize because I cannot remember the source where I found that said they were sinless, and looking through others I can’t one supporting that they were absolutely sinless (just morally upright or exceedingly pious).

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 3:10 As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Uche is a girl@UcheMaryOkoli

I need Protestants to actually point to me exactly where it is mentioned in the Bible that "Mary is a sinner." Since you are sola scriptura, let's go sola scriptura. Just one part in the Bible where it is said, explicitly that "Mary, the Mother of God is a sinner." Because I'm tired of seeing your heresies in my comment section every time I talk about Mary. Mary was born sinless. She died sinless. Period! But if you have proof of Mary being sinful, show me.
