Sharing the trailer for my new podcast, The Geopolitics of Business. I'm fascinated by the places where geopolitics coincides with business and what business leaders do when they find themselves there. Join me to hear insights, analysis and personal journeys from investors, CEOs and politicians who've made the big calls at the toughest moments at the increasingly complex interface of politics and economics. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the…

🚨 By far most interesting interview I have done this year - with AI godfather who has just won Nobel Prize, @GeoffreyHinton ….lengthy chat about what the actual existential AI threat was, comparisons with the Manhattan Project, which jobs will last 🤖

It’s easy to underestimate the economic catastrophe of the last 16 years because it’s been gradual. But imagine we’d actually grown at 2% a year since 2008 and then lost it all at once this year: it would be a collapse of >30% Hard to overstate how radical we need to be now

More broadly physicality does matter, being up close with people having to make small talk is far more humanising and makes for relationship building - if you don’t make MPs brush shoulders with each other, demonisation becomes far easier, and ditto polarisation.

I was a bit sceptical about the point of voting lobbies until I worked for a cabinet minister, they’re an important place eg for backbench MPs to grab 2 mins with a minister for things that wouldn’t warrant a full meeting or a parliamentary question & to resolve something quickly

Delighted to have secured the confidence of MPs across The House & to have been elected as The Chairman of Ways & Means, Deputy Speaker of @HouseofCommons. I’m honoured to have made a bit of 🇬🇧 history as the first ethnic minority MP to serve in The Chair & I hope it inspires the next generation of women. Looking forward to working with colleagues & @CommonsSpeaker on Parliamentary integrity, security & impartiality🤝🏽

The people actually fixing climate change now are engineers and businesspeople; meanwhile activists debate which normal people to annoy

Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love. Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.

@LukeTryl People might not mention Brexit directly because the politicians are not talking about it. Yet many of the problems we need to solve are a direct consequence of Boris Johnson’s hard Brexit.

One thing that’s fascinating across our focus groups so far is how much of a non issue Brexit is - for either remainers or leavers. Pretty much only time it gets raised is people rationalising their 2019 vote. Europe just not an election shaping issue compared to 5 years ago.
