@ABsteward @DrToddLee Yeah i don’t get this. The one thing people are already comfortable with is oral transition for GNB infection. Which we have had RCT data for since the 80s-90s thanks to FQs.

This will be a most needed and important RCT.

Really pleased to see this out today in @LancetMicrobe sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

New preprint! Lots of studies use curated databases e.g. Resfinder/AMRFinder to call presence of ARGs, commonly using cov/id filters (e.g. 90%). Uncatalogued variation is generally ignored. How common are non-exact matches and do they matter? tinyurl.com/3bk5sf82 #amr #ecoli

After respecting Charlotte Dujardin for so long, I'm horrified by the video of her whipping that horse.
It was clearly hurting & scared. That's not a "lapse in judgement".
I just can't imagine treating a horse like that if you cared about horses. 1/3

New preprint now online 🥳
We have developed a pipeline to perform bacterial GWAS from a set of assemblies and annotations, with one or multiple phenotypes as targets.

@linamacarmona Why is there a big change point in all specialties around 2019? Did the rules change then?

@doctor_oxford @NHSEngland If some introduced themselves to me as a physician I would assume a medical consultant frankly.
English

I’m simply horrified to see @NHSEngland now literally breaking the law in how it misrepresents physician associates & other allied health professional - who are NOT doctors - to the public.

Late to the party but a pretty good way to open my account on @BashTheBug run/walk/cycle 4000k (the number genes in TB apparently) @ModMedMicro. Won't be winning prizes for speed or distance, but might be in with a chance for best run view?

We hope this contributes to the debate about how to annotate outputs from e.g. AMRFinder with information about the likely impact on phenotype, allowing ARGs to be categorised at a drug-bug level in an objective and principled manner. Thanks as always to @ModMedMicro colleagues.
