Steel, fertilizer, fuel, cement, agriculture. Our energy-intensive industries in Ontario are also trade exposed and many are carbon intensive. Yesterday, the federal industrial carbon tax increased by a massive 16% 💰 At a time of rising fuel costs, trade instability and geopolitical tensions, the federal government’s decision to raise the carbon tax by 16% on our foundational industries isn’t a joke - it’s the wrong move, which will cost job creators and hurt competitiveness.

Opening just last week at 4979 King Street, it was the perfect spot to welcome Ontario’s Minister of Small Business @ninatangri to share details of the 31% reduction in Ontario’s Small Business Corporate Tax, saving job creators thousands of dollars a year!

Diversifying our energy grid with reliable, clean energy - like nuclear - is continuing to play a critical role in securing key partnerships with our global allies. 🇫🇷🇨🇦 With the France Canada Chamber of Commerce, I joined Consul General @bertrandpous and sector leaders for the launch of a new Energy Transition Committee - laying the groundwork to help meet future demand.

At the Value of Biogas East Conference, I spoke about Ontario’s decisive action to include emerging fuels into our integrated energy plan - supporting our robust energy mix to power the future. Biogas and RNG can bring helpful solutions to Ontario’s growing energy demand - securing our grid with Made-In-Canada energy.

With the largest investment to support high-speed internet in Canadian history, we’re building a more connected Ontario. 🌐 Grateful for the opportunity to speak at the 2026 @CanWISP Conference, and for the work they’re doing alongside local ISPs to carry out critical high-speed internet expansion in rural Ontario.

We’re delivering the largest transmission expansion in modern history, including a new 290 km line connecting Barrie to Sudbury - unleashing the most ethical resources on earth. 🇨🇦 Thanks to MPP Bill Rosenberg for his advocacy in helping us unlock the potential of Northern Ontario.

Every family has been impacted by mental health or addiction at some point. Today, with @TheThanigasalam, we opened the new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery and Treatment Hub in Niagara. This new hub will provide wraparound support services to ensure hope and recovery are in reach for every family in our region.

Today’s provincial budget includes a tax cut of up to $130,000 for Ontario homebuyers of new homes. It’s part of our plan to make life more affordable while keeping Ontario workers on the job.

The Victoria Cross is the highest award in the Canadian honours system - awarded for extraordinary valour, self-sacrifice, and extreme devotion to duty. It has not been awarded since the end of the Second World War, despite there being many worthy potential recipients, like Jess Larochelle. Today, our government introduced a motion calling on the federal government to establish a military honours review board to determine if several past cases meet the criteria for the Victoria Cross.
