@plzbepatient You actually shouldn’t be fine with that because Japan is part of our empire. Americans should be an exception in the nations in our empire. I of course have no problem with us charging foreigners more.
English

If I went to Japan and they charged me more than a Japanese citizen to use their equivalent of national parks I’d be fine with that. Don’t see what the big deal is. My taxes fund the parks. The tourists don’t.
Miss Jilianne@MissJilianne
I think it’s disgusting the United States charges $100 per person visiting our country to enter a National Park. Embarrassing too!
English

@MissJilianne Agreed the price isn’t nearly high enough for foreigners and it’s much too high for Americans, embarassing!

There are no words or precedents for this.

@IMPERATORAUS I agree that isn’t the purpose but all of those can be and often are necessary knowledge for the purpose
English

If you study the lives of Alexander, Caesar, or Napoleon and think the purpose is to be able to recount how many soldiers they commanded in a particular battle, or the route they marched to a particular city, or the date they signed a particular law, then you're wasting your time.
IMPERATOR@IMPERATORAUS
What's an opinion that will have you like this?

@zarathustra5150 @_kruptos To make them opposed is an Enlightenment idea in which political philosophers of that time tried to imagine man “in a state of nature” as opposed to man in society. But man in society is man in a state of nature.
English

"If women were to control the government, the state would be in grave danger, for they do not act according to the dictates of universality, but are influenced by accidental inclinations and capricious opinions."

I am going to break it down real simple like for you why women generally make terrible leaders. Men want to solve problems. Women want to feel heard. It really is that simple.

@RonDeSantis Gonna be honest this is a major red flag. The Sandlot is easily better than all of those and especially putting Bad News Bears ahead of it is extremely libtard coded.
The Sandlot is about peak Americana before the policies of the 60’s ruined it.
English

I like Sandlot but I’d rank it behind:
Major League, the Natural, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Damn Yankees, Moneyball, Pride of the Yankees, 61*, 42, Eight Men Out, Bad News Bears
Florida Man - World's Superhero@danmmeyer
@RonDeSantis Ron, gotta disagree here. Sandlot is the best baseball movie

@ReallyOldLife You should reflect on the fact that the inconvenient word you had to drop is “true”.

"Religion"? if you want Christianity, say Christianity. If you want religion, take a religious studies class.

@TheGreatB00ks @GregMcBrayer3 The Anabasis is such an epic story. I can’t believe there aren’t any movies about it (with the exception of one or two very small budget films).

@SamR102794 Yes - or as a break in between Platonic works… gotta bribe @GregMcBrayer3 to come back on. Cannot talk about Xenophon without him!
