Maybe its time to embrace, encourage or eventually require--rather than fight--decentralized finance. A cooling system failure in a Chicago suburb took down the @CMEGroup. There is a big lesson here. It's that decentralization matters. Because decentralization = resiliency. CME processes about 26 million contracts per day. These contracts play an important, systemic role in the global economy. While today it was a refrigerator issue, there are so many other risks and attack vectors when there is a single point of failure. Centralized vulnerabilities can easily be exploited. And we simply cannot have this type of systemic risk. Via blockchain technology, many parts of the stack (even compute) can be decentralized and made materially more resilient. From a principles perspective--this is a better way.

@vladechad @armaniferrante Which type of AI algorithm is trading doesn’t matter (and in fact LLMs are definitely not better than trading-specific algs). The key point is that algorithms are making trading decisions w/o human input. Doesn’t matter how they’re getting to those decisions.

Becoming the default ledger for tokenized equity is one of the most valuable things in crypto right now. Perps will be extremely important, but winning the canonical representation of the underlying asset is the much bigger long term game.

@akshaybd Has this corresponded with a reduction in fees for actively-managed ETFs? Higher management fees have typically been the strongest argument against active funds.

Even though actively managed ETFs only have a 10% mktshare -- they attracted 35% of ETF flows this year. the flippening is happening under the hood...

Staking was supposed to be decentralized and permissionless. But staking at scale still feels like signing an AWS contract in 2015.

And the worst part: this structure locks out smaller investors — the people who actually hold most of the stake on networks like Solana. They never see these deals and can't participate in them. And validators can't secure their stake.

Enterprise staking deals feel so… web2. Every validator "partnership" is an endless chain of private emails, NDAs, custom spreadsheets, bespoke rates, and back-channel intros.
