@mobinfiltrator You’re missing a main point. Depreciation is the largest cost of vehicle ownership. Depreciation on electric vehicles is huge as their batteries lose capacity and new and better technology emerges.

80 km/h zone. I’m doing 80-85, right at the limit like any law-abiding driver should. Tailgaters riding my bumper. Horns blaring. Middle fingers flying. When did obeying the damn speed limit become a crime? Doug Ford wants to raise limits instead of enforcing the ones we have. We’ve got police start ticketing these aggressive drivers. Never seen this level of entitlement and disrespect from a younger generation on the roads in all my years. Fix it. Enforce the rules. 🚗😠

Every fucking day … Damian Volk, former Royal Canadian Mounted Police SSgt, has quietly resigned after being twice convicted of assaulting prisoners. In July 2020, he kicked a handcuffed detainee in the head inside a cell. In August 2020, he carried out another “takedown” that a court ruled was assault. Two incidents. Two convictions. Two judges. Yet he’s allowed to resign, not be fired. How? RCMP spokesperson Kris Clark confirms he “voluntarily” left. Sentencing still pending in R v Kuzmanovic and R v Petrus. And again, the problem. Convicted of criminal assault while in uniform and simply walks away with a resignation. And again the system protects its own, right to the end. #onpoli #cdnpoli #police

"According to the documents obtained, it was the previous owner of the vehicle who was informed of the defect at Repentigny Chevrolet. The problem was diagnosed: two dead cells in the high-voltage battery. Instead of carrying out a repair, the dealership allegedly cleared the fault code to allow the vehicle to be driven and resold." "...Total cost to the family: $11,500, including SAAQ taxes. Current value of the vehicle without a functional battery: almost zero." (A new OEM pack for s Chevy Volt is typically quoted around $11,000–$13,000 plus 6-8 hrs labour for installation) journaldemontreal.com/2026/04/30/voi…

I needed to change my headlamp bulb this morning. Got to Canadian Tire, bulb is $45, Cool. But then I’d have to go to an auto shop to install it… another $150 I got to Canadian Tyre and I couldn’t even tell them the exact bulb I needed. So the plan was — drive to the auto shop → remove bulb → get number → come back → buy → go back again to fix it. Madnessss 😩🫠 As I was about to leave, I said let me check YouTube quickly if I can find something helpful. Boom 💥 5-minute video explaining how to fix mg problem. Sat in my car, watched it, popped the bonnet, followed step-by-step, removed the bulb myself. Went back in, bought the exact one, came outside… and fixed it myself. Saved $150 just like that. Sometimes, the only thing standing between you and saving money is a 5-minute video and small courage 😂 This morning. I am very proud of myself 😭😭

𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬, because it's actually very interesting. As many of you know, my beloved BMW 650 convertible had just passed 100,000 miles and I came to realize the time had come. I needed something newer. Right now, I'm living in the mountains of West Virginia in the middle of nowhere, and there are no car dealerships anywhere close to here. My closest option was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which was a three-hour drive. I knew this would be a several-day process because I'm not a fast decider. I drove to Winston-Salem, fully intending to buy a Genesis product. Upon test driving their cars, I just didn't care for the ride. Many people love Genesis; it just didn't appeal to me. It didn't feel solid. So I kept looking. I was particularly impressed with Cadillacs, especially their new electric SUV called the Lyriq. Cool styling and great interior. They had a barely used one on the lot that I was thinking of in the color that I wanted. But I could not lease a used car and there's no way I'm going to buy a $62,000 electric car new. The depreciation is insane. The only one they had on the lot that I could lease was in a color I didn't want. I pretty much drove to every single car dealer in Winston-Salem, and just wasn't seeing what I wanted. Discouraged on the way out of town, I decided to stop by the BMW dealership, just to see what they might have. My last three cars have been BMW, so I kind of like the brand. I dropped into 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗪 𝗕𝗠𝗪 𝗢𝗙 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗡-𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗠. Their Sales Manager, Davis Rainey and Client Advisor Jon Crook seemed very professional and nice. I have always wanted a 𝗕𝗠𝗪 𝟳 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦. It's that big luxurious land yacht. But a new one was above my pay grade and less expensive used ones typically had over 100,000 miles. So I'm walking through the lot, about to test-drive an SUV and I see this 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝟳 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦 sitting there. It was in a grayish-blue color with a cream interior. I would have thought it was a brand new car, except for the fact that I knew the grill was from an older model. I looked at the sticker expecting to see 100,000 miles, but it was only 58,000. I was expecting it to be over $50,000 with such low miles. But it was only $26,000! Literally too good to be true. The car I always wanted, with low mileage, at a price I could afford. As far as maintenance, I could buy an aftermarket warranty from a company like autopom! that has excellent exclusionary, bumper-to-bumper protection. Long story short, two hours later, I owned the car. I was so excited, this thing was just a gem. A real bucket-list moment because I'd always wanted this car! Fast forward. I'm driving back to West Virginia on the freeway. I get up to about 65-70 miles an hour, and 𝗜 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗔 𝗩𝗜𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗥. I feel a wobble in the steering wheel. Not what you expect from a car that was originally $100,000. I thought oh no, I knew it was too good to be true. There's something wrong with this car! The next day I headed back to Winston-Salem. I talked to Davis Rainey and Jon Crook. I fully expected them to say, "You bought it, you own it! Sorry." But they didn't say that! They said their policy was that you had three days or 300 miles to be happy with the car. If you weren't, they would take it back. No questions asked! They also said that they would spin balance the wheels and find out what was wrong. During the spin balance, they found out that two of the wheels actually had slight bends on the inside, as can happen if people hit big potholes. They brought in a specialist to fix the bends, respun the wheels, balanced them perfectly, aligned the car and refreshed all the fluids. All of this at 𝗭𝗘𝗥𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗘 and they even paid for my hotel room and gave me a free tank of gas for the ride home! I drove back to West Virginia, and the car rode like a dream. I was so excited and relieved. So that's my car story, folks. P.S., Flow BMW didn't pay me to say any of this. I just had a good customer experience and wanted to share it. 👍

I'm excited I finally bought my car. I've always wanted a 740i but the new ones were over 100k but I found one that was in cherry condition with 58k miles on it and a terrific price I sprung for the $$$ BMW extended warranty because you don't want something to break on this car out of warranty. Weird thing is I'm only paying $100 a month more that my old BMW. Hope I made a good choice. I've always wanted this car but it was always too expensive or too high miles.

There's a contractor at my house today and he's driving an EV. Dude parks at the end of my driveway and runs an extension cord from an external outlet on my house and he's been charging his car this whole time. Am I wrong that this is bothering me?
