What a great and emotional, late, night riding the final final ever Class 455 in service. Samuel and me will always call it 'our train'. 1.30 into bed was more than worth it. Goodbye old workhorse RIP

Well everyone... the penultimate day of the 455s... and this time is the ACTUAL penultimate day. To think tommrrow is the last day we'll ever see a 455 in normal passenger service is something i personally don't want to believe is true.

@SamuelsRoom2015 Last day for them tommrrow. After that it'll just be 5871 running some trips from time to time.

@martinfox00 @Champs707007 The 450s are horrendous. Awful internal layout for such busy services and don't get me started in the plug socket that digs into your leg if you sit on the window seat. Use the Woking line every day and have lost a great train for them not the arterio as promised

@Champs707007 I actually miss them. Having to travel on the awful 450s instead makes the journey much less appealing. My face lit up when these 455s appeared for the 07:48 DKG - WAT one day last week. Sadly it was a one-off though.

Glorious... 5716 & 5721 are back again on the Reading line. This is what i like to see, SWR.

@TrainLifeGB I use the Woking line every day in the busy periods and the internal layout of the 450s doesn't work for trains that busy. The 3 and 2 seats leave no gangway whatsoever. There is nothing really to hold onto and those brick sized plug sockets that impale themselves in your leg

@SamuelsRoom2015 Agreed. I understand the 455s have no air-con or toilets, but still, their door opening time and accleration exceeds that of the Class 450s.

If only they still were the backbone of the suburban lines... 😔

@My_Metro We really liked it. Reminded us a bit of an S Stock but feel it still pays respect to the 554 it's replacing. Warm, bright, airy. Very nice. The old metro obviously has the sitting at the front benefit and got a lot of my shots from there today so it was a handy train to ride

Right, just because i'm bored, let's assume which 455s are being kept as spares. 6 units are being kept. 5712, 5717, 5727, and 5871 as they're in the best state, could be the first 4. But then that leaves 2 units. 5870 and 5732 maybe?
