@HistorianUSA1 So he is asking for two phones? If item is returned with no damage, that probably doesn’t count as a felony charge. What is Loss? How many days later was phone located, 14 days? It can be returned with restocking fee. He should only walk away whole, which only means one phone.

This dad is going viral for a reason. A 13-year-old girl stole his daughter’s $1,000 phone at school in Indiana. School finds it and IDs the thief. He heads straight to file felony charges, but gives the parents an out: pay for the replacement phone and he drops everything. He’s not mad at the parents — he just wants real consequences so kids learn. Plus he lets his daughter carry the phone for safety and in case of an emergency. What would YOU do? Did this dad handle it right — or should he seek full prosecution?
