Even for average work and browsing the battery life on the MacBook Neo is not good Windows laptops from a year or two ago with less efficient processors last much longer

There's multiple videos comparing 8GB vs 16GB MacBook Air (and above link compares 8GB Neo vs 16GB Windows devices). And we are living in AI bloat world. Everything is going to get more expensive.

@cckatsan @The_Hardcard @lafaiel Some people hate windows. Mac OS has a lighter memory footprint than windows, so its not the same to compare 8gb on mac vs windows. 8gb in mac is likely like having 12gb on windows

@The_Hardcard @lafaiel I agree it's for word and light browsing maybe one hungry app at the time but it's not better than 16gb windows at multitasking. I actually recommend this laptop for an office worker that abuses them and does multimedia consumption

@RjeyTech True - but you have a big light source sitting right with you at all times. I do like a back light, but I get why they cut it to meet a cost threshold.

Every other MacBook has had backlit keys for over 15 years. Even budget Windows laptops have it. Now the white keycaps do help with visibility in low light. But for students typing in a dim lecture hall or on a late-night flight. Not ideal. It’s not a dealbreaker. But it’s the one cut I wish Apple didn’t make.

@MaheshPawaar @lakshyalark I'm currently using 45% of my 64gb on my main PC. However I have a laptop that only has 8gb and I've never needed more because I don't do much more than browsing or fiddling around.

@lakshyalark The nature of my work and the multitasking it demands – docker, local DBs, multiple browser tabs (browser windows as well) – 16GB is the bare minimum. 8GB wouldn't survive.
