@InfosReseaux @Elijah_Meeks From what I can see they in their segments they only encode connection data, how many lanes, and how do they connect in relation to the destination segment, but no information about actual coordinates, lane width or so.

OSM also tries to model the world as it appears. That's the point of the Lanes page I pointed to.

@InfosReseaux @Elijah_Meeks I think OpenStreetMap and me try to solve different problems. OSM job is to answer "How do I get from one road's lane to another" while I am trying to answer: "How do I draw this road so it matches it's real world appearance while keeping the routing information"

I'd like to read you thoughts about what openstreetmap provides in this matter.
Lanes information is provided on road segments instead of nodes. Profiles solution you describes allows smoother transitions between them it seems.

@Douglance I think there is no single most accurate in all areas. There are bunch of professional grade level each specializing in it's own area. PPT Vissim is one of the best for intersection level, Aimsun Next for city level. But all of those have a CAD like programs UX.
