If a software engineer in Bangalore earns an annual package of ₹50 LPA, over the last five years, they would have paid approximately ₹30 lakhs in income tax. Now, if they lose their job due to sudden layoffs, they receive nothing no freebies, no subsidies until they find another job. In many developed countries, taxpayers have access to Social Security: if someone loses their job, they receive financial support or unemployment benefits until they are employed again. India, despite being a large socialist-leaning nation, provides little to nothing for those who pay taxes. Instead, the government continues distributing free electricity, water, bus travel, or schemes like Ladli Bahen, benefiting those who don’t contribute as much in taxes. Sad reality of India.

Over 250 activists in Bengaluru hit the streets to protest the SC directive to remove stray dogs from public institutions. Their concern? That the order “violates ABC rules” and could undo years of sterilisation efforts. But here’s the uncomfortable truth no one in these protests will say. India has over 6 crore stray dogs, and the 'compassionate' ABC (Animal Birth Control) model is now cracking under its own contradictions. We are seeing rising dog attacks, preventable rabies deaths, children mauled in school zones, morning walkers bearing the brunt and even wildlife wiped out by dog packs. We can’t keep calling them “community dogs” while millions roam freely, unmonitored, unvaccinated, and increasingly aggressive. Human safety, especially in streets, schools and hospitals, needs to be non-negotiable. ABC cannot become a shield against accountability. If the model no longer protects people, it needs a radical rethink. Sadly what we are seeing sentimental resistance by animal activists.

Since fixed dog shelters aren’t permitted near residential complexes, dog traffickers have found a brilliant workaround: convert junkyard vehicles into premium stray-dog shelters. Now they can be parked anywhere—because #BBMP prefers to look the other way by default. So no need to worry about “where will relocated strays go?” Just bring them all to Suncity Apartments. Some will be adopted as “community dogs” (ABC/AHD will ensure that), and the rest can enjoy their new suites inside abandoned autos and SUVs parked right on our roads. Photos attached: the latest mobile luxury shelters for strays. #Bengaluru #BBMP #StrayDogs #StrayDogMenace #PublicSafety #UrbanIssues Tagging: @bbmpcommr @BBMP_AHD @CPBlr @BlrCityPolice

HEY DOG LOVERS All you Dog lovers are shouting hoarse about injustice to dogs regarding the Supreme Court’s order. But where were they when a four-year-old child was brutally killed in broad daylight on the streets ..Likewise thousands get attacked every year Where was your compassion then? Or is compassion reserved only for those with wagging tails while dead children don’t count? And yes, there is nothing wrong with loving dogs. I love them too. But love your dogs in your own homes, in your luxury bungalows , in your manicured lawns. Love your imported Labradors, your pedigreed Huskies, your high-breed pets bought from breeders and hire staff to look after them But the truth is this: the dog menace does not exist in your lavish villas. It prowls in the streets and slums. It stalks the alleys where the poor live, where children play barefoot, where no gates or fences protect them. While the privileged stroke their glossy pets, the powerless are left to tend to the wounded and bury their loved ones . You talk about dog rights. Fine. But what about the child’s rights? The right to live. The right of his parents to see him grow. Do those rights vanish because you love dogs ? Do those rights matter less than your Instagram photos of you cuddling your own pedigreed pets? Here is the truth you don’t want to hear: compassion without balance is injustice . If you truly love dogs, then adopt them, feed them, and protect them in your secure homes. Or force the government to come up with solutions . But don’t burden the streets with your love , where it turns into the death of someone else’s child. The poor should not pay with their blood for the sentimental indulgence of the rich. And realise this truth that a society that values the life of a stray dog over the life of a child has already lost its humanity.

@DeepikaBhardwaj Exactly and no rapist is returned to the same location to haunt the victim for life unlike stray dogs that are returned to the same spot after 10 days based on the crappy ABC rules.

It is absolutely stupid arguing with a #straydog lover who is also a feminist but as too many of them are giving this inane logic- men rape women so can we put them in shelters - here's the answer Morons of the first order - Men are immediately arrested even if a woman puts a fake rape case crying "shaadi ka jhaansa" after 8 years of consensual relationship. Recently a man was not just arrested but his leg was shot too for molesting a woman on street. There's a full process of trial of men who are accused of rape and they're put in prison for life when found guilty. They are confined in case you know what they means for reason that they're not fit to live in society On the other hand, no matter how dangerous a stray dog, no matter how many people bitten - endless cases where folks like you don't allow authorities to take that dog away. Worst - your ilk indulges in classic victim blaming by saying things like - they don't attack unprovoked, victim must have done something. But you don't have iota of shame on this kind of victim blaming while you want to tear apart anyone if they say a word about woman who alleges rape

The ones who step out of their posh flats straight into luxury cars, chauffeured from film sets to bars, discos, clubs or their husband’s cricket matches, have no business preaching about street dogs to the people who actually face them. Your staged, PR-friendly photos with a stray are worth nothing. You’ll never be bitten because you’ll never set foot alone in the streets. You’ll never watch your child get mauled. You’ll never die of rabies. So keep your hollow morality to yourself and stop lecturing those who live with the threat every single day.

After the SC, the Rajasthan HC has also ordered the launch of a special campaign to clear stray dogs and other animals from city streets. The Court empowered municipal officials to file FIRs against anyone who hinders their duties. The judiciary seems to have made up its mind, and soon we’re likely to see more state High Courts issuing similar rulings. This is the only way this could have happened, the judiciary. For decades, govt and irresponsible dog feeders have ignored the plight of common people and allowed the problem to grow this large. Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan, what you guys did is not easy. Thank you if you are reading this.

Please do not club sane animal lovers with insane animal lovers. As I type this: we have 2 indies as pets and all of them are at home and in farm house. I love dogs and forever we have had a dog at home and at farms. No: I have never ever fed a street dog. They are dangerous and a threat to commoners. Fully endorse SC judgment to take all street dogs to shelter. Real animal lovers bring pets to their homes. Not feed them and leave them out. It’s so simple!

I hope this will end work from home and call for a return to work for all so called stray dog lovers! They should go and show their love and compassion in these shelters if they truly care about these animals. Can't wait for this order to be passed across India!

@anuradhagoyal Well written! 30-40 is also a very financially vulnerable stage of most of our lives with loans, rising costs of education and raising a family. Unfortunately the luxury of reduced hours and reduced pay is not for the working class in our country.

@gujjutweeter You can't catch up with college students every year. e.g - college students learn about latest and greatest. 2-year new joinee in React and your 2-year exp in React are same. Then, why you should get 10x more salary than 2-years exp person? Also, Tech is glass ceiling.. U stuck

It is very clear as per the US department of health that the girl died AFTER THE RABIES VACCINE. The very same rabies vaccine that our politicians, NGOs and doctors sell as a saviour from STRAY BITE. The very basis on which they justify stray bites. 1/n

Ppl who think stray dog bites r a small matter bcoz u will get Rabies vaccine shots & all will be fine, u r sadly mistaken. Just like Covid vaccines, there r many undocumented side-effects of ARV. U will be shocked to know how many ppl die after getting it.

Alarming Situation! 🚨 India has 6.2 crore stray dogs, and accounts for 36% of global rabies deaths. 21 lakh people bitten every year—5 lakh are children. This is not just a public health crisis, it's a national emergency. Despite being a dog-loving nation, no developed country allows stray dogs to endanger public spaces. Almost every state and town across the country, including those in J&K—Jammu, Srinagar, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur Kathua, and many more—are grappling with this escalating threat. And yet, no state or UT government is taking serious action. Being an animal lover and a pet owner myself, I say this with full responsibility: Stray dogs need care, but not on our streets. Feed them in dedicated shelters, not roads. Human lives matter too. It’s time for a rational, humane, and national policy. We must ensure: - Safe streets for people - Secure shelters for stray dogs Where there’s a will, there’s a way! #SafeStreets #AnimalWelfare #IndiaPolicy

It's high time all state governments take initiatives in rehabilitating all these stray dogs into secluded safe shelters! Indian lives have literally gone to the dogs! timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/20-mo…
