@TheNairobiTimez Its always suspicious when a suspect is arrested and paraded to the media, the media house has the right wordings and the “right” phrases eg “drop out” Gen Z, suspect age “cyber Crime act” etc…DCI , OCS and agencies on site! Town Games!
Civic Educator Ng’ang’a Muigai Clarifies Ruto’s Harambee Stars Gifts, Says Money Came from 2024/25 National Sports Lottery Fund, Not President’s Pocket, Open Thread 👇
1. It’s short-term “feel-good” economics
Giving a small group boda bodas or cash looks like helping, but it doesn’t build lasting income.
Once the boda breaks down, the person is back where they started — no savings, no long-term plan.
It’s like giving someone fish instead of teaching them to fish.
---
2. It wastes huge amounts of public money
If you have 450B stolen/misused, and 1B given back to citizens, that’s less than 1% returned.
That 450B could have funded:
New factories that create thousands of jobs
Modern farms to boost food security
Affordable housing that grows wealth over decades
---
3. It ignores the root cause of poverty
Poverty in Kenya isn’t because people lack boda bodas — it’s because of:
Low-paying jobs
Poor infrastructure
High cost of goods
Unfavourable policies for small businesses
Without fixing these, the giveaways just hide the problem.
@PHIAMAX@MutahiNgunyi@WilliamsRuto Equitable distribution of national resources is a constitutional right & not a presidential favour. No region should beg for its share, & no group can block it. Let’s move beyond wastage through tokenism & uphold the rule of law. You can reason better. Can't you?
@WilliamsRuto Could kindly share Mr. Ban Ki-Moon's social media accounts if possible?
Its important we notify him what kind of leader is to the Kenyans who have been abducted, tortured and killed for asking this GOVERNMENT for Good Governance and Accountability instead he chooses corruption.
In his more than 50-year public career, former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has made a huge impact on global affairs and humanity.
During his tenure at the UN, he mobilised the world to confront global challenges ranging from the climate crisis and global health to gender inequality.
We therefore celebrate His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, an extraordinary leader who built bridges, reformed the UN, gave voice to the voiceless and fostered progress towards shared goals.
Honoured His Excellency Ban Ki-moon with Kenya's highest honours, First Class: Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.), State House, Nairobi.
@UNHumanRights@volker_turk Always thought @UNHumanRights@hrw@IntlCrimCourt stood by democracy ,good governance and accountability only to live and understand y'all sit and sh*t on destruction of life, family and work.
African countries will always be the prey to these useless people.
This is OUR FIGHT!!
#Kenya: We are deeply troubled by the killings yesterday of at least 10 people in protests amid looting and destruction of property.
@volker_turk urges prompt, thorough, independent & transparent investigations. Those responsible must be held to account.
We know exactly where your interests lie @UNHumanRights… wherever there are minerals to extract illegally! We watched your agents siphon gold out of African countries in vehicles marked with the @UN logo! We've also witnessed #UnitedNations & all its daughter bodies turning a blind eye to & promoting prostitution within the organization under the guise of humanitarian work!
Stay out of #Africa's affairs! You are not neutral! You aren't innocent! You are part of the reason people are dying in Africa, not from war alone, but from the greed that hides behind blue helmets & white SUVs! The @UN has become obsolete & should be disbanded!
@Karanja_Mwaniki@UNHumanRights@volker_turk@USEmbassyKenya@USAmbKenya@UKinKenya Btw...and there have been protests in UK by Kenyan citizens and activists...na UK embassy here are totally silent on all the insanities Kenyans have had to endure...then this all means when King Charles visited him here in Nairobi, he gave him a greenlight to cause mayhem to us.
@UNHumanRights@volker_turk Start with this boy...he proudly gave a shoot to kill order. he's above the law, also take care he might order his dogs to bark at you and bite...his dogs aren't vaccinated against rabis
History has shown us time and again: when the people rise and stay risen, no regime is too powerful to fall.
Just last year in Bangladesh, it was students who lit the fire. What began as protests over job quotas became a nationwide movement against authoritarianism. Over 1,400 people lost their lives but the people didn’t back down. On August 5, 2024, Sheikh Hasina was toppled, fled into exile in India, and has since been convicted in absentia for crimes against protesters. That’s the power of sustained resistance.
This isn’t new.
1️⃣In Tunisia (2011), 28 days of protests ended 23 years of dictatorship.
2️⃣In Sudan (2019), four months of resistance forced the fall of al-Bashir.
3️⃣In Serbia (2000), citizens took to the streets and Milošević fell.
4️⃣In Sri Lanka (2022), on 13 July 2022, following a string of mammoth protests that eventually culminated into a civilian takeover of his official residence and workplace by protestors, Rajapaksa fled the country, accompanied by his spouse and a personal security detail, to the Maldives, before further retreating to Singapore on 14 July.
None of these victories came in a day. They came from persistence, unity, and sacrifice. So to those asking how long must we keep going? the answer is simple:
OCCUPY UNTIL VICTORY.
Hold the line. History is on our side.
#OccupyUntilVictory
You know what..we are just postponing the inevitable. We have to get rid of those guys ASAP! He's destroying our nation right before our eyes. We must not allow this another day. Enough is enough!!! #OccupyUntilVictory#RutoMustGo#SiriNiNumbers#SabaSabaRevolutionDay
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH 😭😭😭😭
