International Women's Day celebration at CSIR-CIMAP 💐💐

CSIR Aroma Mission–III Outreach in Chhattisgarh An awareness-cum-training programme on the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants and the preparation of fragrant incense sticks from offered flowers was successfully organized at Maridham, Rajnandgaon district (Chhattisgarh) on March 11, 2026, under CSIR Aroma Mission–III by CSIR–Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow. Around 60 participants, including 20 women and 40 farmers, took part in the programme and gained insights into sustainable cultivation practices and value-added product development from aromatic resources. Empowering rural women through skill, science and self-reliance Under the CSIR SMART Village Mission, CSIR-CIMAP conducted hands-on training on incense stick and fragrance cone making for women of Sawaipura village, Pali, Rajasthan—building a complete value chain from aromatic crop cultivation to value-added product development. The initiative blends traditional knowledge with modern entrepreneurship, enabling women to transform locally grown lemongrass, vetiver, palmarosa and tulsi into sustainable livelihood opportunities. The enthusiasm and active participation of the women reflect a growing spirit of confidence, independence and enterprise at the grassroots level. CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow celebrated National Science Day 2026 with enthusiasm under the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.” The programme commemorated the discovery of the Raman Effect and highlighted the growing role of women scientists in advancing research, innovation, and nation-building. Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Scientist ‘G’ at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI), delivered the National Science Day Lecture on “Cutting-edge Research Leads to Market-driven Innovations,” stressing the need to translate laboratory discoveries into market-ready products, startups, and societal solutions. A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between CSIR-CIMAP and Dewdrops Wellness Pvt. Ltd. for market seeding of PsoriaCIM cream, strengthening industry-academia collaboration in the herbal sector. More than 225 students participated in the Open Day programme, gaining insights into medicinal and aromatic plant research. The AI Impact Summit in Delhi has brought together the who’s who from the AI world. There is representation from over 100 countries. There are distinguished participants from every corner of the globe. Our aim is the same - leveraging the power of AI for the welfare of our planet.

#Australia Minister for Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Dr Andrew Charlton, currently in New Delhi for "India AI Impact Summit 2026",  called on, accompanied by a high level official delegation. Reviewed the progress of the "Australia–India Strategic Research Fund" (AISRF), which completes two decades in 2026, and welcomed the finalisation of five joint research projects under Round-16 of the programme. The projects span critical minerals processing, quantum technologies, advanced manufacturing, climate-resilient agriculture and cellular immunotherapy, reflecting a sharper alignment of bilateral research with clean energy transitions, supply chain resilience and advanced biotechnology priorities. AI-enabled clean energy transitions and critical minerals discussed. Highlighted India's BioE3. Being an island country, Australia has an opportunity to align with India's Deep Ocean Mission. Both sides reaffirmed the role of the India–Australia Joint S&T Committee and Joint Biotechnology Committee as the apex mechanisms guiding bilateral cooperation, and took note of the deliberations held at their 10th meeting in November 2024 on innovation policy alignment and research translation.

सीएसआईआर-सीमैप ने एसेन्शियल ऑयल प्रोसेसिंग तकनीकों पर छह दिवसीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया सीएसआईआर- केंद्रीय औषधीय एवं सगंध पौधा संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-सीमैप) ने किसानों और उद्यमियों के लिए, जो एसेन्शियल ऑयल्स के प्रोसेसिंग और वैल्यू-एडिंग यूनिट स्थापित करने में रुचि रखते हैं, एसेन्शियल ऑयल प्रोसेसिंग तकनीकों (EOPT-2026) पर छह-दिन की कौशल उन्नयन प्रशिक्षण कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया। यह कार्यशाला 9–14 फरवरी, 2026 तक चली। इस कार्यशाला में भारत के 12 से अधिक राज्यों का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाली आठ महिला प्रतिभागियों समेत कुल 28 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम के समापन सत्र में, सीएसआईआर-सीमैप के निदेशक डॉ. ज़बीर अहमद ने इस प्रकार के प्रशिक्षण के महत्व को रेखांकित किया और भारत और विदेशों में एसेन्शियल ऑयल्स की बाजार संभावनाओं को बढ़ाने के लिए एसेन्शियल ऑयल प्रोसेसिंग और वैल्यू-एडेड तकनीकों में कौशल और विशेषज्ञता विकसित करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के संयोजक, डॉ. सुदीप टंडन ने बताया कि यह कार्यशाला विशेष रूप से प्रतिभागियों को सगंध पौधों की प्रसंस्करण प्रौद्योगिकियों के बारे में व्यवस्थित ज्ञान देने और उन्हें इन प्रौद्योगिकियों के तकनीकी और व्यावहारिक पहलुओं से परिचित कराने के लिए डिजाइन की गई थी। सुगन्धित तेलों की गुणवत्ता विश्लेषण प्रक्रियाओं पर विशेष जोर दिया गया, क्योंकि निर्यात बाजार केवल उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले उत्पादों की मांग करता है। प्रशिक्षण में डिस्टिलेशन, मेंथोल क्रिस्टलीकरण, मूल्य संवर्धन और सुगन्धित तेलों का फ्रैक्शनकरण सहित सभी गुणवत्ता संबंधित पहलुओं पर अनुभव प्राप्त कराया गया। कार्यक्रम के समापन सत्र में संस्थान के वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक, डॉ. लैक़ उर रहमान, सीएसआईआर स्किल इंडिया मिशन के प्रोजेक्ट लीडर; डॉ. ए. एस. नेगी, प्रमुख फाइटोकेमिस्ट्री; डॉ. राम स्वरूप वर्मा; डॉ. संजय कुमार; डॉ. रमेश श्रीवास्तव; और डॉ. अतुल गुप्ता ने भी प्रतिभागियों के साथ बातचीत की। @zabeerahmedb @CSIR_IND @DrNKalaiselvi @DrJitendraSingh
