I was told by a confident and fairly reliable source that faith based audiences would not come to see my movie, for two reasons: 1) My main character, at one point, kisses a married woman and immediately regrets it. I was told that Faith based audiences would find the character "irredeemable" after that. (I said that I don't think that is how redemption works, and did he think that zero Christians watch The Sopranos or Justified?) and 2) the language was too rough, because at one point, the main antagonist calls someone a "sonofabitch." I was told to change these things or it would never be made by a faith based filmmaking group. I didn't change them, and so far, he has turned out to be right.

I have a big request. 🙏 I'm working on a major article about the downfall and feminization of Christian entertainment for a legitimate publication. The goal is to show that the Hallmark slop we've been getting since Hollywood shut out competitive Christian entertainment after The Passion of the Christ is purposeful and planned. In addition to my own experiences, I've heard hundreds of stories from executives and artists about their personal experiences over the years. I'm also willing to include their statements. I'm looking for any industry references to Bookstore Betty. Any receipts. But I'm really looking for any emails or written rejections of your work because it wasn't female-oriented enough that you would be willing to share anonymously. Please connect with me via encrypted X chat. This is a real opportunity to expose the inner workings in a way that can put an end to it. But I can't do it without you.

@CJRealHoops2 @TheCinesthetic Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorites, but it's hardly underrated anymore - back in the day for sure, but this movie is beloved now by almost everyone

I get semi-frequent stomachaches after seeing a movie because my cinema-loving soul is sad to leave the theater. NOT because of the popcorn. That simply wouldn’t be possible

@hannahepoch @TheMuppetPastor I've been there and God is there in those prayers, He's there when you can't even say the words anymore and you have only tears - He may feel far away but it's not true He's holding on to you and you can hold on to that truth. My prayers are with you ❤️

@TheMuppetPastor Ugh, this is so hard. I've had a very active prayer life since I was six. Since my miscarriage in December I don't even know how to pray anymore, and I'm trying. Today I just said, "God, my kid is dead" over and over, probably hundreds of times. How do you even pray like this?

“Oh what peace we often forfeit! Oh what needless pain we bear! Just because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer.” Today’s offertory hymn was an old favorite of mine, and one that I constantly need to hear. How often do we make the conscious decision to suffer? We act as if God can’t handle our sorrows or if we are in complete control of our lives. We are so proud, we would rather be in pain than give our problems to God. “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” paraphrases many themes taught in scripture. Peter told us to cast our cares upon Jesus because He cares for us. And a casual reading of the major and minor prophets makes it abundantly clear that they cried out to God in the throes of misery. Often they are skipped in church, because far too many pastors think we need not read the “sad parts” of the Bible. What a shame!! We must know the sad parts because we need to know how to deal with sorrow and heartbreak! We act as if they are diseases instead of very normal occurrences. Like Habakkuk, we can cry out to God in anger and frustration and we shouldn’t let societal attitudes dissuade us from what the Bible teaches. “What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!” This phrase should not be easily lost upon us.

@slut4ghostie I read it when it came out loved it and re-read it twice before the movie came out - I was so excited for this movie but also nervous because what if it was terrible - the fact it was done so well was just the best (I've now seen it 4 times and hope to see it at least once more)

@_webbysworld I don't get how people think this is a big continuity thing, he's eating from a cup, then holding a cup & possibly puts down the cup while talking - it doesn't have to be in his face the whole time. It's possible to eat slowly especially when talking about the end of the world 😅

@GrahamC47 It probably doesn't travel well, since it's an American idiom, but here in the US it means any kind of long shot not just football related
