This spring marks 22 years of the Western Maryland Democratic Summit – a proud tradition for organizers in Mountain Maryland and our State Party. I joined them once again in Hagerstown to talk about the critical work being done up and down the ballot here in our home state, but also the work ahead of November in Virginia and Pennsylvania. It has been a privilege to represent Carroll County – a small sliver of Western Maryland – in the House! Harmful stereotypes, false accusations, and mocking are always beneath the dignity of public office. Diversity of experience, thought, and background has always been – and always will be – what makes our state great. Megan is one of thousands of civil servants in Maryland who came under the attack of DOGE – but she hasn’t lost her calling for public service.

Our Doors for Democracy Tour continued this weekend into Carroll County! ➡️ We had dozens of volunteers come out to knock 250+ doors in Sykesville for Megan Foelber for the Carroll County Board of Commissioners.

They are the cornerstone of our work to build a better future for Maryland — the mentors, counselors, & steady hand guiding our children to success.

My parents were both civil servants who taught me that supporting teachers is the “rising tide”— when we invest in our educators, everyone else rises too.

As the first African American Congressman elected in Maryland – and below the Mason-Dixon line – Representative Parren J. Mitchell broke barriers and paved the way for Black Marylanders in every corner of our state. It was great to be back at the West County Democratic Club’s annual Congressman Parren J. Mitchell Dinner and Salute to see old friends, exchange stories, and celebrate this incredible statesman and his successor, @Mfume4Congress. Thank you to WCDC President Antonio Downing and Vice President Lynda Rice for keeping this wonderful tradition alive and to Senator Michael Bowen Mitchell for your incredible tribute to your late uncle. May we all move forth carrying Congressman Mitchell’s plea to care for our youth and one another.

Happy Earth Day, #MD03! 🌎 Since coming to Washington and the House Natural Resources Committee, I have fought for our planet, our Bay, and (of course) our blue crabs each and every day. I’m committed to working with my colleagues to protect our beautiful natural treasures, pass science-backed legislation, and tackle climate change head-on. That’s why I’m honored to have the support of the @SierraClub, @NRDC_Action, @LCVoters, and the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition in this race.

I’m honored to share that @MomsDemand has named me a Gun Sense Candidate. A grassroots powerhouse of parents and survivors of gun violence, Moms Demand Action is dedicated to a vital mission: passing stronger gun laws to keep our families safe. Between threatening to “destroy a whole civilization” overnight to creating AI images of himself as Jesus, one thing is clear: the President is no longer in possession of himself.  I’ve called Vice President Vance and the Cabinet to begin the process of invoking the 25th Amendment. Our Constitution gave us the framework to remove those unfit for office before they do irreparable damage. It’s imperative we use it. I don’t call for the President’s removal lightly, but the American people deserve a rational leader  who respects the Constitution and won’t warmonger via tweet. I may be 40 years younger than the President, but even as a millennial, I have one piece of advice for our Commander in Chief when negotiating for peace: Stop tweeting and pick up the phone.
