Why do we have to fight over self pub/ indie vs trad? Why can't we just celebrate good books! The reality is that we are in a golden age of original storytelling. There is so much variety and choice out there. Each reader can find a book that means everything to them

Today I wrote. I've written every morning all week. And while I'm pleased at myself for being able to build up that habit again after a family circumstance tore it down for a while, I'm also a little frustrated that each session wasn't as long as I wanted it to be. But ...

@BookSpotlight I agree. Reading is so subjective, and isn't that the beauty of it?

Ratings are feelings and not value judgements and I wish more would accept this. Do you hate pizza because Joe McHatesCheese gave it one star and says it flat evil? No of course not. Authors gotta let ratings go. It’s not healthy to care about one person’s opinion so much. 🫶

instead of “I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding” I’m going to start writing “I let out a fart I didn’t know I was holding”

Then I remember that I'm being too harsh on myself. That writing habits look different, and some days we can't get it done, and some days it's only a few words. And that's okay too, as long as you keep writing. Slowly building. I wanted other people to remember that too.

@AuthorGoodwin Worse is when you type too quickly and miss one and then it's out in the world and you can't change it and it's the most embarrassing thing ever.

As an author, do you fastidiously check your Twitter/X posts to make sure they are grammatically correct and free from spelling mistakes? And do you get irrationally angry when you see posts written badly?

@MaroftheBooks I can't recall either. You get lots in 1st MMC. If it's any help, I'm drafting 2 in 1st POV FMC right now. Can't say when they'll be out though as I'm hoping to submit them to trade!

Just realized I can’t come up with an answer to this question myself so I turn to you, readers/writers: What is the last SFF book you read in first person POV with a female main character? I’m super curious if there’s a reason I can’t think of any. 🤔

@Kiraofthewind1 We'd have no book titles left if it were the case 🤣 People need to chill. There's a reason there are trends and tropes in genres. Because they work, and it showcases to others that this particular book is part of that genre and THIS is what you can expect from it.

If I said books with these title format are boring/lazy and I have no interest in them: -The X -The X of Y -These X Y -A(n) X The X's Y X of the Y ...you'd call me a fucking moron So can we please fucking stop with the irrational, idiotic hate for "A(n) X of Y and Z"?

@SarahKateIshii Yes, I was very fortunate & grateful to have known her. I wrote my MA dissertation on her Vampire Chronicles and was her guest at the Undead Con and Vampire Lestat ball for several wonderful years. She was so kind & supportive toward both my academic & creative work.
