@DanicaPriest @LilithRStacey @TobyDurant Danica agricultural fields are barren in terms of ecology. In my view as long as they deliver a new nature reserve or similar space they are always a net gain for nature. We need to get away from this view as a party that fields are always some kind of haven for nature.

NIMBYism… I’m sorry but endless fields of plain grass ISNT biodiversity. A small park of native plants and wildflowers will do more than the entire area of empty farmland. And it’s by a subway station! What does it service? The field mice? We have a housing crisis!

🌳 A proposal has been submitted for 150 houses in #TheydonBois on #GreenBelt. Green Belt protects the nature of our precious village. I will continue to do everything I can working with community groups & residents to oppose this development & to stand up for our community. 🌳

Here’s the question nobody in Washington is asking about the Diego Garcia strike: how did Iran know exactly where to aim? They don’t have satellite coverage of the Indian Ocean. Someone gave them the targeting data. Who? And what does that make this war?

Balloon day! Grateful to have had another fun spin around the sun. Slightly less grateful and bemused to be entering the final year of my 30s. 😱

England is now the only country in Europe that doesn't financially support its farmers to produce food. Surely Trump's conflict in the Middle East and Putin's invasion of Ukraine show how utterly vital our food security is? The Government needs to wake up and back our farmers.

Would say the two most successful 21st Century UK social issue campaigns: Pro gay marriage (big shift in attitudes in short space of time) Anti Assisted Dying (even against public in principle consensus, and shifting elites during process) What have I missed (am sure loads!)?

@ZackPolanski Gov spending in 23/24 was £1,189 billion, with a £131 billion deficit. It is projected to rise to around £1,347 billion in 2025/26. Your estimated £15 billion raised through a wealth tax won’t even touch the sides to meet the deficit. That’s why the city won’t take you seriously.

I said "And this sustained project of privatisation and deregulation turned Britain from a place which made things people need to a place which made money for people who owned things." And the City said:

I should be on the farm today planting barley or spreading fertiliser, but instead we’re at the High Court for a Judicial Review where we’ll ask the Court to step in and declare that the Chancellor’s decision not to consult properly over IHT changes with the public was unlawful.

And you can extend that to people like Jacob Rees Mogg too who clearly had his own style which was equally not identikit. More Spencers; Rayners, Johnsons, Rees-Moggi who know who they are and feel confident in themselves and challenging tendency to vanilla conformity is probably not a bad thing.

Yes if studying public opinion has taught me anything it’s that the public do in fact yearn for more identikit politicians

Have you ever watched reality television show ‘Snog Marry Avoid’? I asked @grok to do a POD style makeunder, and dress Hannah Spencer in a simple white blouse and black pencil skirt, and smarten up her hair. Anyone who thinks her presentation is irrelevant should take a look. She dresses like a child for a reason. That concerns me.

Mr Polanski, like so many Green Party types, perpetuates the doomsday lie for political gain. Yes construction is invariably disastrous for nature, but we are not the most nature depleted country in Europe. His words spit on the efforts of all working conservationists here.
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

A new report shows hitting our climate targets by 2050 costs less than one oil shock costs the UK. We need a rapid transition to clean energy to shield people & the economy from price spikes every time oil prices jump. Some commentators still can’t connect those dots…
