Caro Carlos, affido queste parole a una bottiglia che lancio nel grande mare del web, sapendo che difficilmente toccherà la tua riva, ma con il bisogno profondo che si prova quando la bellezza del tennis si interrompe all’improvviso. Ti scrivo dall'Italia e, da tifoso sincero di Jannik, non ti nascondo che sei stato il nostro incubo sportivo più lucido. Ci hai dato dispiaceri profondi e quella finale del Roland Garros 2025 è ancora una ferita aperta che brucia di rimpianto. Eppure, sapere che questo problema al polso ti terrà lontano dai campi, privandoci del tuo duello con lui, lascia una strana forma di nostalgia. La rivalità tra te e Jannik è tra le cose più pure che il tennis abbia mai respirato. È un magnetismo che vi costringe a scalare vette impensabili, a cercare la perfezione per non cadere. E a noi, spettatori appesi a un filo, regala la grazia della sofferenza: una vittoria contro di te è difficile, sofferta, e per questo acquista un valore quasi sacro. Senza la tua ombra dall'altra parte della rete, ogni trionfo sembra privato di un pezzo della sua anima. Ti chiedo scusa, perché un tempo ti avevo mal giudicato. C'era un tempo in cui non capivo i tuoi gesti: quella mano portata all'orecchio per catturare il boato della terra, il tuo modo di incendiare la folla, quel “vamos!” urlato come un ruggito a fine partita. Li scambiavo per arroganza. Poi ho capito che era solo la tua giovinezza che esondava, l'impossibilità di contenere il talento e la vita. E oggi, ironia della sorte, ci mancano persino quelle spigolosità. Sotto il fuoco del campione c’è l'eleganza di un bravo ragazzo. Il rispetto devoto che porti al gioco, la tua sportività mai intaccata e la stima limpida che hai sempre dimostrato per Jannik rendono la tua assenza un vuoto pesante, paradossalmente più difficile da accettare proprio perché sei il nostro rivale più grande. Forse non tutti i tifosi italiani confesseranno questo sentimento. Ma chi ama il tennis prima del colore di una maglia sa che questo sport, senza di te, è improvvisamente diventato un po' più opaco. Guarisci presto, Carlos. Torna a splendere e a riprenderti la tua parte di campo. Abbiamo ancora bisogno di tremare, di soffrire e di guardare voi due mentre ridisegnate i confini dell'impossibile. Jannik Sinner Madrid R4 Recap: With Fox Boy’s first 11am match slot since he was merely a twinkle in his parents’ eyes, Papa Darren and Vagno were forced to employ the fog horn alarm to wake him in time. Pre-match, the ginger was reportedly spotted in a back alleyway having a “heated discussion” with one of the tournament’s IT staff. AND, in completely unrelated news, the electronic coin toss technology was “coincidentally” broken for his match. Enter the umpire “coincidentally” immediately producing an old fashioned metal coin from his pocket, which was “coincidentally” then thrown on his side of the net, and “coincidentally” then picked up by a little fox paw. I swear, the truth WILL come out one day… Cam Norrie had clearly downed a triple-shot espresso for breakfast, and kicked off the match with a 1-minute service hold, and four unreturned first serves. Fox Boy ̶s̶m̶i̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶o̶d̶d̶e̶d̶ ̶ yawned and rubbed his eyes…. and then snatched the next five games in a row. 😂🥱 Yes, the ginger didn’t seem his usual vibrant and animated self this match, and there was heated Tennis Twitter debate over whether it was because the left leg was broken, the right leg was broken, the virus had finally infiltrated the ATP tour’s lowest immune system, the usual 47 hours of sleep had been disrupted, or just annoyance that the 11am time slot STILL didn’t provide a cement court under his feet. Surprisingly, the Camnik match-up only became Facebook official for the first time today. However, his lack of prior exposure to Sinnerball quickly became apparent when Norrie fist-pumped and “Allez!”ed loudly after the carrot hit a drop shot into the net. Uh oh, the ginger bear had officially been poked. Jannik’s face immediately morphed from 😐 to 🫤 to emphasise his extreme displeasure, and he blasted his way through the next five points to close out the set 6-2. Cam is apparently not a fast learner, because he then attempted an underarm serve at 40-40 halfway through the second set. Fox Boy barely contained his derisive laughter, and snatched the next two points to break. He turned and pointed straight at the team, who immediately jumped up and gushed tears and shouts of adulation, before launching into their pre-choreographed “Simply the Best” dance routine. Unfortunately, the ginger continued to fuel rumours he allows himself to get broken just to feel something, when he inexplicably lost his serve to 0 the very next game. There is also a strong possibility that he does it for the chillingly malevolent satisfaction of letting his opponents get themselves hyped up, only for him to come back and crush their dreams again with another break. Undoubtedly because of Norrie’s annoying shouts, he saved his retribution this match until 5-5, to really make it sting… 🤭 After 1 hour and 26 minutes of ranting at the dirt for daring to move under his feet, Fox Boy closed out the match 7-5. Unfortunately, this was just his 20th consecutive win, because his main opponent on tour continues to be his own mediocrity. Post-match, he confirmed that his desire to play tennis matches after 6pm is almost on par with his desire to extend his daily press conferences by another 10 questions. Finally, next up we have another round of babysitting. Hopefully, Fox Boy can get the little one off to sleep quickly and close the bedroom door, before his parents’ noisy dinner party with 12000 of their closest friends outside, wakes him up. 🤫🤞 FORZA. 🦊🧡

Si possono fare le ipotesi più varie anche se sarebbe più elegante aspettare i fatti, ovvero che sia lo stesso Alcaraz, eventualmente, a comunicarlo. Ora: Non sta scritto da nessuna parte che nel #tennis un grande successo sia più legittimo se ottenuto in finale contro il rivale più affermato. Dire che Sinner, in questo caso, non si dovrebbe presentare a Madrid perché manca Alcaraz o che una vittoria di Sinner in un torneo dove Alcaraz è assente sia da ridimensionare è una delle più grosse sciocchezze che mente umana tennistica possa partorire. Il Roland Garros 2009 vinto da Roger Federer 🇨🇭, unico RG vinto dallo svizzero, è uno dei fiori all'occhiello della sua carriera: vale forse meno perché in finale trovò Robin Soderling 🇸🇪 e non Rafa Nadal 🇪🇦? Tanto prima o poi le cose si sapranno: Alcaraz giocherà o non giocherà il Roland Garros e Sinner vincerà Madrid o non lo vincerà. Senza dietrologie, complottismi, trattamenti di favore o sfavore come si continua a dire ad ogni sorteggio di main draw. Capisco quel che scrivono alcuni, ovvero che vincere una finale tra rivali possa dare un sapore particolare, ma ciò non implica fatalmente che qualsiasi finale alternativa abbia un peso specifico diverso e più modesto. In teoria chi conosce il tennis dovrebbe saperlo molto bene perché si tratta di uno sport, per fortuna, strapieno di storie come questa. Un trofeo é un trofeo: se lo vinci sta lì in bacheca 🏆 Chiunque lo vinca, ovunque lo vinca, contro chiunque lo vinca. Senza asterischi. #MutuaMadridOpen
