@Satanta19

He was handsome and eloquent, active, hardy, courageous, a great general and an able politician, but also licentious.

Since Algeria is in the news, it’s a good time to remind people that Jay Lovestone pimped out white women to African UN delegates to fix UN voting related to Algerian decolonization.

@warstrike88 Within 24hrs of each other @Littoria14 and John Podhoretz both praised Goodfellas and referenced appeasement of pre-nuclear North Korea on their respective podcasts. Interesting.

We have gone from 'we will open the strait' to 'you must help us open the strait' to 'we don't need your help to open the strait,' to 'you need to get your own oil from the strait,' to 'we are going to just fucking blockade the fucking strait ourselves.'

On recommendation from @pacificjimmy I picked up this book about the war in the Pacific. On the first page he describes how a New Guinea tribesman became obsessed with wanting to parachute from a plane, so some airmen took him up one day on a lark and shoved him out of the door. “Afterward he walked in silence among the black men, a soul apart, like one who had discovered things best hidden from humanity.” War is serious business but it’s important to also have fun.

@jlippincott Van Creveld wrote a lot of good copy during the GWOT. One of the few sane Israelis… he spoke against confrontation with Iran not from a leftist humanitarian POV, but from a Realpolitik strategic perspective. I fear there’s nobody in Bibi’s govt with such a rational stance.

@CityBureaucrat Richard Posner used to describe himself as a Nietzschean. He wasn’t, but he did rule that you can wear a shirt that says “Be Happy, Not Gay” to school.

@BiblicalBeauty @JeremyDBoreing @SethDillon He admits he’s losing to a schizophrenic black woman who can’t pronounce “architecture” and an alleged nocturnal demon attack victim. You know he’s losing.

I'm listening now to this interview between @JeremyDBoreing and @SethDillon about the horrible splintering that has happened on the right due to the devious actions of people like Carlson and Owens. Dillon says he's not winning in the conflict right now because of all the negative consequences he's experiencing, but I just want to say that he IS winning, because he's one of the very few standing boldly for the truth and retaining his integrity through it all, something that his opponents aren't even capable of doing anymore. It may take time, but I believe just like in his courageous stand against censorship with the former leadership of Twitter, he will be vindicated, and we will all be grateful for his example.

In 1959, a search party looking for Hiroo Onoda in the Philippines left behind Japanese newspapers for him to find. Onoda, a second lieutenant in Japan’s Imperial Army who refused to believe WW2 had ended, describes his reaction to reading about life in Japan:

@BirdAccount1492 Partly the point. The US could win any single engagement, but it the meaningful constraints were imposed by McNamara not hippies.

@Satanta19 The Vietnam War was never militarily questioned it was always the politicians and hippies at home that kept us from actually fixing the problem
