@DavidBakhtiari The REAL ID act was passed in 2005 with an initial deadline for enforcement of 2008, which got extended all the way to 2025. If the SAVE act had that type of timeline associated with it, I don’t think you’d have nearly so much opposition.

Wasting a 6th on this situation was objectively dumb. You had to know he’d have visa issues. You had to know his wife was pregnant. We drafted Petr Sikora with a 6th. Would not have thrown one away on this.

Again, if they had such little value NHL teams would not seek to acquire them.

@TheCupitals Replies here are weird. Yes, 6th rounders aren’t very valuable but it’s still bad asset management. A better way to think about it is they paid for something they’re not getting. Not just a 6th, but probably a couple $100k too.

@Cerrone_Battle Expand to 40, do a promotion/relegation with two 20 team leagues. Make the draft 4 rounds, top league teams get the first two rounds with promoted teams picking first. Lower league gets rounds 3/4. Fixes ranking, feeds the need for expansion, keeps a competitive balance.

This is why expansion is a freaking terrible idea. 8 teams won't reach 25 wins and even some good teams have G- league talent in their rotation. League should do the opposite and drop down to 24 teams like the 80's. Deeper rosters, competitive hoop = better product.
