Are you listening @Keir_Starmer? More than 3,200 lawyers including 300 top barristers and retired judges have called on you to drop your plan to restrict the right to trial by jury. 30 organisations representing victims of violence against women and girls have written to the Justice Secretary urging him against curtailing the right to jury trials. Trial by jury is a cornerstone of our democracy and an essential safeguard against authoritarianism. The government has no mandate to restrict it - a move which will put us on a path toward authoritarian justice. It’s not too late for the government to listen to the thousands of voices of victims, judges, barristers, other legal professionals and academics who oppose this blatant act of constitutional vandalism. @TheCriminalBar @RobertBuckland @Kirsty_Brimelow @KarlTurnerMP @thebarcouncil @Anna_Soubry @lawsocgazette

🚨KEIR STARMER IS SPEARHEADING ONE OF THE MOST SHOCKING ATTACKS ON CIVIL LIBERTIES IN MODERN TIMES The government has absolutely no mandate to do this. Labour never mentioned in its manifesto that it planned to undermine and restrict a fundamental cornerstone of our democracy - the right to trial by jury - a move which will place us on a path toward authoritarian justice. But it’s not too late for the government to listen to the thousands of voices of victims, judges, barristers, other legal professionals and academics who oppose this blatant act of constitutional vandalism. CONTACT YOUR MP NOW and ask them to step up and protect this cherished and precious cornerstone of our democracy

This is the sad reality of a normal day in the NHS. No strikes, No excuses. Yet we’ve got fully qualified doctors sitting unemployed while patients are left waiting 21 hours in A&E. Years of mismanagement and catastrophic workforce planning failure. What a betrayal to patients

77 out of the 532 Crown courtrooms in England and Wales are sitting empty today. That’s 14 per cent. Jury trials are not the cause of the backlog in the Crown Court — it’s the fact that a significant proportion of Crown Courts sit empty on working days. Open the courts. Save our jury trials.

#LibLabCon betray you. Don't vote for ANY of them.
Why are we heavily subsidising food and drink for MPs who are paid almost £2,000 per week? Workers on low wages are paying taxes so MPs can get their booze on the cheap. This is totally wrong & must end.

When a new "Single Point of Access" or "NHS hub" opens, it’s marketed as a way to streamline care but the reality is often the opposite. Instead of a direct referral to a consultant, GPs and patients are left to navigate a labyrinth of complex referral criteria and IT systems.

Really pleased to be involved with this. Its a small step. But its a small step forward in re-professionalising the doctor and preserving patient safety by showing them exactly who they are seeing. All NHS trusts should embrace this. Maybe even @wesstreeting could push for it?
Dr Aadam Aziz@Aadam_Aziz

Doctor substitution is rising, and patients are being left unsure who is actually responsible for their care. Our new Doctor lanyards and badge holders are now available to order, a practical step to restore clarity and protect patients. #AskForADoctor shorturl.at/JWeFy

An interesting fact about the Graham Linehan @Glinner appeal is that the right Mr Linehan exercised - an automatic right to appeal a summary conviction via a full rehearing in the Crown Court - would no longer exist under David Lammy’s proposed reforms.

More than 60% of every donation Streeting has received comes from companies with interests in private healthcare. He used a statutory instrument to give himself power to override NICE - the body that stops the NHS being overcharged by big pharma. 31 MPs from six parties oppose it. The BMJ calls it "sacrificing population health for corporate wealth." Is this privatisation by stealth?

Regardless if it’s the lack of action on grooming gangs, men parodying women relentlessly, especially on the bbc daily, or men stealing prizes & places from women in sports… women’s rights are going backwards

Hmm @NatalieFleetMP🤨 I regularly work as an Urgent Care GP till after 10pm. You might feel differently about the “smell of fags & beer” if you were seeing someone like me late at night?! If MPs need alcohol to do their job then maybe they’re in the wrong job? @HouseofCommons
Natalie Fleet MP@NatalieFleetMP

Working in a palace is mad. It’s part of job I struggle most with. Smell of fags&beer at 10pm are one of things that make it seem tiny bit normal🍻 I say that as someone who’s never smoked & got sober to become an MP! If I ever feel comfortable there, it’s time to leave…

It’s shameful that so many brave & honourable #Labour MPs who have campaigned for years on behalf of abused women & children are being conned by Justice Ministers. Cutting the right to trial by jury won’t cut the backlog. Pls listen to those of us who work in the crim justice system every day. @NatalieFleetMP @jessphillips @kimleadbeater @Kirsty_Brimelow @TheCriminalBar @thebarcouncil

Specialist rape courts were in the manifesto. Restricting jury trial was not.

Why is Paramedic manning GP Practice all by themselves? Why are they making decisions to prescribe medication if not a Prescriber? “GP Practice” with no GP in-house Thanks to @wesstreeting continuing Dr replacement on NHS frontline Meanwhile many GPs unemployed/underemployed
Duckbird Fella 🇬🇧 🇺🇦@Duckbird3

I drove my 90 year old neighbour to a GP appointment yesterday as she had no other way of getting there, only to find there was no GP but just a paramedic who couldn't prescribe medication without a GP who was not there 🤔. Make it make sense @wesstreeting

A new report from the Institute for Public Policy Research looks across 22 developed countries and finds no evidence that insurance-based systems outperform tax-funded ones. Not on access, not on quality, not on efficiency, not on equity. @RoyLilley

“Ultimately, a university is not a stage, nor a fetish club. It is a place of learning, where young people ought to be able to study without being forced to navigate someone else’s exhibitionism. Oxford’s problem is not that it attracts weirdos. It is that it has forgotten how to say no to them. Regrettably, it seems Matt Rattley will be at liberty to display his plastic tits until university officials find their ovaries.” @jo_bartosch ⬇️
