I really think we need to study this subject more deeply because many believers do not truly understand what speaking in tongues is.
Speaking in tongues is not separate from the baptism in the Holy Ghost. In Scripture, whenever believers were baptized in the Holy Ghost, the evidence that followed was speaking in tongues. We see this pattern consistently. From the upper room in Acts 2 to the household of Cornelius in Acts 10 to the believers in Acts 19. Each encounter followed the same order.
So when the Holy Ghost came upon those in the upper room, why did they speak in tongues? Why did the Gentiles speak in tongues when the Holy Ghost fell on them? Are we now saying that speaking in tongues is different from being filled with the Holy Ghost? Or do we somehow believe that God gives the fullness of the Holy Ghost to some believers and withholds it from others?
Many believers desire to speak in tongues, yet we have sold them the mindset that it is not compulsory. We say things like even Billy Graham did not speak in tongues. And so what? Does that become the standard for doctrine? Our standard has always been Scripture, not personalities no matter how respected.
One of the worst things a believer can do is to reject the gift of tongues because in doing so, you are rejecting the fullness of the Holy Ghost. If you have received the Holy Ghost and you are not speaking in tongues, it is not because God does not want you to. It is because you have chosen not to.
At this point, I might as well write a book on this.

I received the gift of tongues following my conversion in 2016. It’s a gift I’ve been walking in since then. I don’t believe that every Christian should/must speak in tongues as I cannot say that every Christian should/must possess any of the other gifts. It’s GIFT for a reason.

Two important things here :
1. Taking responsibility for your failures and not laying blames.
2. Having that personalised relationship with God.
They took me a whole 4 years to learn.
And since then, I've been flying 🙂↔️

I grew up in a family that prayed a lot. Anytime something went wrong, we were fasting or praying. I remember fasting three days over one small issue. My parents have been praying for 20 to 30 years and their lives never really changed. So I decided to try the opposite if I really want to defeat poverty. If I wanted a different life, I had to take a different path so different from my parents basically flipping the script. My mum fought me but she had to let me win lol 😆 😆 gave her statistics and why she needs to let me cook in my own way. So I cut off weird energies and negative people. I focused on myself, my peace, and my mindset plus having a personal relationship with God, I also stopped attending church for the past 5 years. I stayed "realistic" because I’m human and anything can happen. I lowered my expectations and increased my output so when things disappoint me, it doesn’t break me. I just keep moving. In the process, I ended up making more money than my parents ever made in one year. That’s when I realized something. Faith, discipline, hard work, and showing up every day will change your life more than doing the same prayers for decades and hoping something magically shifts. And then people see me stop going to church and still winning, and ask questions. But they don't understand that i focus on myself first, heaven help those who help themselves. Amen 85% hard work, faith, discipline, 15%prayer and realistic expectations. Then you stay sane. 🤭😂 Don't copy me, do what works for you.
