Alright, since you don't understand how Corporate America hiring works, I'll tell you. - Leader leaves Company A and join Company B - Leader needs to hire people at Company B - Leader thinks about who at Company A would be a good fit. - Leader reaches out and tries to hire them. Why? Because hiring is difficult, and you don't want to hire the wrong person. So, if you hire someone you know would be a good fit, you do that. This happens more often than not.
