I genuinely don't understand it. If a goal is ruled out because of an accidental standing on a player's foot, how is Salah not given a penalty? You can't have it both ways. Either both are fouls, or neither are. That's all fans ask for consistency.

More on President Trump's call to Gianni Infantino.
It was communicated directly to the FIFA President that Trump felt the punishment was unjust. Other White House figures also lobbied FIFA.
US Soccer say they were "engaged" in the process and argued slow motion replays distorted the incident.
FIFA insist the decision to suspend Balogun's red card was made by an independent panel.
Yet the Royal Belgian Football Association say they are "astonished" by the decision, adding Article 27 does not allow for a suspended punishment under these circumstances.
RBFA exploring all options, including going to CAS. Any appeal could also come after the game if Belgium are knocked out.

🚨 Exclusive: The White House made a direct call to FIFA to ask Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun’s red card. FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee. FIFA sources insist White House influence could not affect the decision due to the powers contained in Article 27 and the independent nature of the disciplinary panel.

It seems clear that we want a deep CDM who is very capable on the ball. Nobody is an exact copy of Vitinha. But someone who can cover ground, and be very comfortable on the ball. We have looked at Matheus Fernandes. Tyler Adams.
Santos is a big talent. He had some ups and downs when he played more for Chelsea — but I like him.

Flo Balogun sent off after a VAR check for a high foot that also made contact as it came down with the back of Tarik Muharemović's heel. Probably the right call. Balogun now suspended if the USMNT advance.🟥
