I visited England in 1988 when I was 16. My older brother was studying at Regents College. He takes me from the airport to the college. The college had a pub inside it. Never saw anything like that in America. I was 16 and at that time likely could pass for 18, so I go up to the bartender. The guy looked about 25 years old and was a spitting image of Rowan Atkinson. Now I didn't know his name at that time, just the TV shows he was in like Mr. Bean or The Black Adder. Now i'm literally like 1 hour on English soil for the first time. I go to the bartender "Hey you look like The Black Adder." He pauses. Sniffs. And replies "And you look like a bucket of shite." And that was my first interaction with someone from England.

Everything was good until I realized this man has an IQ of 178 and a master degree in electrical engineering from Oxford University

Just had a parcel from @amazon and the guy who delivered it asked to come in and charge his phone. For safety as a lone woman there’s absolutely no way I could have said yes to this. I’m scared of even walking around the corner nowadays let alone letting a strange man in my house

It's so easy and quick to make and if you use a big jar of chickpeas (like Bold Bean ones) it will give you loads of spread. Lasts well for a week. Don't worry if it seems watery as soon as it's done, you want that, as it will thicken as it cooled. If it's "perfect" out of the oven it'll be too dry when cool. Still tasty but not as spreadable. 👍

Marvellous tomato, chickpea andfeta bake. Take any tomatoes you like, cut them into cherry sized pieces (half the cherry ones), place in single layer with a feta slab in the middle, add olive oil, salt, pepper, also red pepper flakes and herbs on the feta, then bake for 10 min at 190. Take out, add 2 cloves of chopped garlic, a jar of washed chickpeas, bit more salt, pepper, oil, combine but don;t disturb the feta. Bake another 19 minutes. Take out, add loads of whatever chopped herbs you like/have, mash chickpeas with fork (leave chunks), mix, let cool. Store in the fridge, eat with sides, or on bread, salad, with pitta etc. It's divine.

I drink tea for the ritual but this morning I finally read brewing instructions on bottom of a packet of Yorkshire Tea. Brew 4 mins 30 secs. I usually leave bag in water for 30, 40 secs. I followed instructions, 40 yrs after I made my first cup. Banging. Never too late to learn.
