NESBITT'S MESSAGE - REMEMBER WHEN I TOLD YOU IN JANUARY.....something bad was coming to Tunnel Rd and that businesses should ban together to stop the drug addicts roaming around the war zoned area?
Remember when SKYline sent a Transparent Email in January asking if the county purchased the old JC Penny building and they said "No"? They went on to say that "staff would brief the commissioners before an open session" if they planned to buy property.
Well....Once again SKYline was right. The Buncombe County Commisioners purchased the JC Penny building at the Asheville Mall for 5 million dollars. Buncombe County lied and the deal was sealed months ago.
The county claims the location will, "serve as the year-round location for the Emergency Services Department, providing a larger footprint for training, preparedness, and disaster response planning and operations. The site is also a potential location for Public Safety Communications (911), as well as other County uses."
Note "other County uses". Five sources tell SKYline a homeless shelter will be at the JC Penny building along with a middle eastern refugee living area.
One source said, "Buncombe County brought the homeless into Erwin High School when they forecasted ice. They trashed the gym with needles and drug paraphernalia. The County had to hire a disaster clean up crew to clean the place. This same thing is going into the JC Penny building."
Another source said, "Some of this is because of the combining of all the volunteer fire departments."
Another source said, "50 rooms are being built in the JC Penny building to house middle eastern refugees."
Pictured is the two Transparent Emails from January 1st and 5th 2026. One of them stating the County did not buy the JC Penny building. The other picture is the BC press release stating on May 27th 2026 the county did purchase the JC Penny building.
