@MattWalshBlog I’m pretty sure that “I came to make money and have a better quality of life, not the culture” is true for most people who have ever immigrated to the US, which is why the US has had centuries of first generation ethnic enclaves from many cultures around the world.

@skaggsspaz @LeadingReport Yeah the something going on here is the lie by omission to twist the story to fit a political narrative. Notice there’s zero mention of the other student who was killed:

@LeadingReport There’s something much bigger going on here. First Charlie Kirk and now Ella Cook? First, a future president, and now a prominent future Republican leader? Am I missing something else?

@LeadingReport So are we just pretending there was only one shooting victim because that’s more convenient to political story telling? Why is this student less worthy of being remembered?

@KiritDawda @kingkrabbyp Why would you assume that women would never object? They object all the time, and I’m gonna bet you also complain when women do reject and report such behavior, a phenomenon known as sexual harassment…

@kingkrabbyp Hilarious! Just saw your note(without the RT) and thought, that for sure is very valid point. However, it still begs a question. Let’s say that men suck :(. Why do women never seem to object to such advances by a married man( with family? )🤔🙂.

@juliew38138 @BradWilcoxIFS Men’s problems are because women are bad - well, that’s certainly something we’ve never heard before…After all, everyone knows it’s the man’s job to be the controlling, narcissistic one. /s If U R comfy stereotyping like this, wonder how much of this your sons picked up from U

@BradWilcoxIFS All valid points. As a mother of young adult sons, young men will tell you young ladies are extremely narcissistic, controlling, hall monitors that one can never predict next thing which she will accuse him of doing wrong according to her.

“My female students at the University of Virginia are worried about the state of the opposite sex. The women who take my “sociology of family” class tell of brothers living in their parents’ basements, boyfriends hooked on pornography and male peers who don’t pull their weight in group projects. Most troublingly, many of these women say they have never been asked on a date. Their voices are part of a rising chorus expressing concern about the falling fortunes of our boys and men.”
Brad Wilcox@BradWilcoxIFS

"Why are so many boys & men floundering? Our culture has failed [to offer] clear & compelling models of masculinity @ which young men can build their lives. These men are not measuring up, in part, because they have been given nothing to aim for as men" wsj.com/arts-culture/b…

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews More context in article below. Also important to note that the grassroots movements nationally pushing for reform of how we teach reading did not arise in conservative states or as a reaction to “wokeness”; they predate that term by a lot… @natwexler/note/c-185349606?r=3gixrm&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@natwexler/not…

@SchmidtCarrier @51stnews There are approaches with better track records than others. They are not being employed. In fact, they are being jettisoned in favor of lower educational standards & woke propaganda. This is one reason why UCSD is offering remedial math classes.

Staff at Alice Deal Middle School decided this year to remove all full-length novels from the 8th grade curriculum. It's a mistake, one parent writes, arguing that "reading full novels has real and important benefits" in middle school and beyond: 51st.news/opinion-dcps-m…

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews I appreciate you have your passionate views on this. My career is helping kids who have become educational casualties gain skills, I have spent a lot of time studying this, live in CA just 20 miles from UCSD, and I’m a parent of 3 school age kids. Things are not that simple.

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews There absolutely are some bad actors out there with an ideological bent - Jo Boaler is a great example. But she’s also of a kind with Lucy Calkins, but her approach to reading was _not_ coming from any sort of liberal bias, in fact it was more the opposite! 3/3

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews One of the intents of a federal department of Ed was to help with separating the wheat from the chaff when it comes to educational best practices - eg IES is a great resource. What works clearinghouse has flaws, but could have been fixed. But that department has been gutted. 2/3

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews So, what you are saying is U don’t want to talk about real problems like the perverse incentives in the business of Ed curriculum development or how misunderstandings of how reading comprehension develops are affecting kids in all states, but 2 ignore that & stick w/mud-flinging

@SchmidtCarrier @51stnews I did read the article. Twice. And yes, you can make an educated guess about their political leanings. Especially based upon the selection of A Raisin in the Sun & To Kill a Mockingbird. Between this initiative & AI, competent writing will go the way of critical thinking.

@Alicia_Bittle_ 1) “No Child Left Behind” was a George W Bush era initiative that graded public schools’ performance based upon test scores and threatened to close poor performing schools. It has absolutely nothing to do with inclusion and it’s not a special ed policy at all.

People don’t understand just how EVIL the “no child left behind” policy is. And yes, I know this isn’t exactly the same, but let me explain… In the 1930’s the Kellogg’s conducted a “study” where they raised a chimpanzee alongside their toddler. Their theory was that the chimp would take on higher qualities and a type of evolution would occur. The exact opposite happened. The Kellogg’s child began behaving like a chimpanzee. The child DEVOLVED. And while there was mild accelerated learning observed in the chimp, it was nothing that couldn’t have been achieved apart from the child. This same experiment is being run every single day in our public schools across the nation where the lowest common denominator is catered to and our best and brightest are left to struggle on their own. “Inclusion” is simply a euphemism used to describe the slow strangulation of intelligent, and now even normal, boys and girls. It needs to end.
Daniel Buck, “Youngest Old Man in Ed Reform”@MrDanielBuck

Controversy around special ed, IDEA, and inclusion policies is brewing Give it a year or two. This will be the central debate soon.

@BangorRocks2 @51stnews I can’t possibly know the political leanings of individual people who live 1000s of miles from me other than relying upon stereotypes of DC. I can tell you is that these curriculums have a large market share nationally but not for the reason you just gave. Read Karen’s free link!

@SchmidtCarrier @51stnews So you’re telling me that the people who made this decision for a school in DC are not liberals? Because it’s liberals who are pushing for equality of outcome, not opportunity. Academic standards continue to be eroded as a result.
