ScholarBitBook is live. Homeschool paperwork starts innocently—then becomes a transcript, a diploma, proof of progress, and sometimes a compliance file… right when you’re busiest. ScholarBitBook helps parents record as they go, export clean transcripts, and share selectively. Parents own the records; microschools can be granted scoped access. Optional verification is tamper-evident (hashes + timestamps) to confirm an export hasn’t changed—without revealing student data. Explore the live demo: scholarbitbook.com

Virginia is quietly setting up to mandate all 6-12th graders be screened for mental conditions annually—will push HUGE numbers of kids toward to mis- and overdiagnosis. @ALegalProcess —who spots more scary details in legalese than anyone else—writes how bad it is. @CityJournal

Only teachers are smart enough to educate children. Education majors, training to become certified teachers, score an average of 1029 on the SAT. While homeschooled students (taught by parents with no formal teaching credentials) score 1190.

Some useful insight: England doesn’t test students to a discernibly high level, and lots of countries also use assessment linked to qualification, graduation or university entry. In fact, externally assessed, anonymous, standardised exams are literally the fairest way to judge attainment in almost all academic subjects. Every other system (especially teacher assessment, coursework and continuous assessment) lead to huge levels of discrimination, bias, and gaming by affluent cohorts. cambridgeassessment.org.uk/Images/610965-…

we had an experiment with UBI during covid and all that unleashed creative energy did was consume a lot of crab legs and start a lot of fistfights in airports and cruise ships

New York is a cautionary tale. You can invest millions in “science of reading,” but if the wrong people are leading it, you risk recreating the same failed systems under a new name. Leadership isn’t optional. It’s everything. hechingerreport.org/new-york-ten-m…

I've been logging daily activities in the program for a few weeks now. It's interesting what you forget you've done unless your recording it. Adding the voice recording feature has made it a lot easier to track.

😲Wow. This ed prof even says that declining math scores could be a good thing. “The fact that our scores might be declining at some levels could even be a positive thing because we are diversifying our mathematics awareness and understanding.” vancouversun.com/news/canada-st…

The most important part of your record keeping is the high school transcript. Since you are your child’s school, you can generate this. There are several things to know when creating it to assure validity and credit for your child’s work. This one came from fasttranscripts.com they have a great FAQ section.

Stop fighting a system that's already dead. The old school system isn't broken. It's obsolete. Smart parents aren't arguing with teachers. They're building something new. The future of education doesn't have a classroom. It has your kid, an AI tutor, and a trans (4/4)

College grads now have the longest unemployment period in history. Tuition up 893% since 1983. US high schoolers at historic lows in reading, math, science. The system isn't failing. It's already over. (1/4)
