Every Christmas Eve, local school children come to Holten and Groesbeek Canadian Military Cemeteries in the Netherlands to light a candle in honour of every soldier laid to rest. This humbling display reminds us to be grateful for the peace we enjoy. Merry Christmas everyone.

The MGM Grand fire occurred on this date in 1980, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fire killed 85 people, most by smoke inhalation. The fire began in one of the restaurants, engulfing the casino, and smoke traveled into the hotel tower.
