Not gonna lie It has not been a very fun time to be an Iowa WBB fan However, I tuned in to the McDonald's All American game today and @McKennaDub turned my frown all the way upside down Let's set expectations for her She is NOT going to be Caitlin She is NOT going to throw it in from the logo She is NOT going off for 40pts a night probably What she is going to do is only be the most fundamentally sound basketball player on the court every time What she is going to do is only alter every shot, only defend her ass off, only give max effort every play, only snag every board she is even remotely in range of, and she is also going to go for only double digit points every night as well - and this is as a FRESHMAN What she is going to do is ONLY MAKE THE CORRECT PLAY EVERY TIME In some ways I feel like this is the best possible player for us to pick up as opposed to a highly rated shooter or guard or whatever because she's not under as much direct pressure to BE CAITLIN because her game is so different But at the same time, in her own way, on her own time, she is going to be just as impactful Thank you for being a Hawk, McKenna! Can't wait to see you in the Black and Gold!

@cc22report If we’re honest, Kennise is no big deal, never played basically and clears up a spot. And Addie just was overrated, I believe she would have gotten better, but if she don’t want to be a Hawkeye, don’t let the door gott ya where are the Lord split you

By the way if you think this is the end of the transfer portal chaos for Iowa I am here to tell you that you are wrong We've lost Kennise and now Addie If I had to predict there are going to be at least 2 names to add to that list - Em Rodriguez and Teagan Mallegni Maybe even one other Is this a catastrophe? Even if all of what I just said comes to pass I am going to say no, and not even particularly close None of those players, not even Addie, were major factors in the calculation for next year or moving forward, and I do wish all of them, if they indeed do leave, well, and I hope they find what they are looking for (hint: playing time) elsewhere and I am sad they did not find it with us However As much as I loved the team this year, by the end it was clear there were some pretty major flaws - as good as Ava has been, it was clear by the end that without outside play that could at least keep defenses honest, teams would just collapse into the post and smother Ava. And by the end, the outside play was just not good enough So the job in the portal is and always has been clear, get shooting, a lot of shooting, as much shooting as you possibly can And as much as saying goodbye to these wonderful ladies sucks, it does free up a space on the team and more importantly, the all important NIL dollar, to bring people in that fit the bill Team's gonna look a lot different next year, but hopefully in this case different means better Welcome to NIL
