@GWRHelp My wife is now on your GWR train and it is moving. It's en route from Exeter to Plymouth so there is travel actively happening. If therefore the issue is in Devon then surely travel Plymouth into Cornwall is not affected?

Hi there Scott, thank you for your message. Currently, no train is currently able to run between Plymouth and Exeter St David's in either direction. Teams are on site attempting to move the train, but is taking a lot longer than we originally anticipated. Due to the volume of people expected to travel this afternoon, obtaining suitable road transport is highly unlikely, therefore we do advise customers who can, delay their travel plans until later on. Customers at Exeter St David's travelling on to London Paddington, can use SWR services to London Waterloo if the wish, however please be advised that due to engineering works, journey times with SWR is four hours. This is also affecting Cross Country, who also serve this route, but once trains due to start moving, customers can use either operator to reach their destination. CrossCountry are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys. South Western Railway are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys. Also we now have an easement in place allowing customers with tickets for today to travel tomorrow, If your wife is able to book a cab, please fill in our web form at railhelp.co.uk/gwr/make-a-com… and include all of the journey details.
