@LesserFeat We might say pastiche = imitative rather than organic/authentic. Usually the latter will be valued more highly than the former, but they don't have to be...? I realise those words imitative/organic/authentic require further exploration!

@ScreenHullUni Yes, I agree, I think that's how it's most likely to be used - but if you don't assign pastiche an automatic negative value (as we probably shouldn't) then...?

Can an artist be said to pastiche their own style?

@paranoidstylist I'd use Paddy Scannell's RADIO, TELEVISION AND MODERN LIFE as a good starting point for some of the ways broadcasting makes everyday life feel. (You probably could have already guessed I would give this answer.)

@paranoidstylist I was thinking the font looked SIGHT AND SOUND-esque but I could be wrong, plus it's not a weekly is it. Tried to quickly check via the uni library but the online archive only goes up to the end of 2000. Sorry!

I wondered if anyone might be able to help me with an archival query? A current thing I'm writing briefly discusses John Boorman's 2001 film adaptation of John le Carré's The Tailor of Panama. I really want to quote from this article on the film by Tom Charity...

Very sad news indeed. Steve seemed to know *everything* and he was so friendly, supportive, and understated. I will be forever grateful to him. A truly great loss

@BAFTSSColourSIG Very sad news of Steve's Neale's death. He contributed some key early scholarship on film colour. On his many achievements see filmint.nu/steve-neale-in…
