Sounds like its going to be another tough night for Alice Springs. Early reports are the Government will not deliver the full $250m it promised in tonight’s Budget. This is devastating news for Alice Springs. Why won’t the Labor Government step in & protect our communities.

The card failed to restrict participants spending money on grog and gambling services and was found to be a bad policy that discriminated against Indigenous people.

From talking to people in communities I was told first-hand that the CDC caused a deep feeling of disrespect and shame to those who were forced to use it.

The legislation has just passed the lower of Parliament and become law. The Cashless Debit Card is abolished.

Just before midnight last night our legislation to abolish the Cashless Debit Card passed the senate!

This will give over 6,000 indigenous families access to childcare. We know how important school readiness is in closing the gap. That's why this initiative is so crucial to the lives of so many young indigenous Australians.
