@aakashgupta When I was a teenager we used to have oil derricks from coalinga to Bakersfield. This problem is all made from our politicians policies. It's time to #wakeupCA. This is what 31 years of single party rule produces.

Texas has all the gasoline California needs. None of it is legal to sell there. The last Middle East tanker is unloading at Long Beach right now. After that, California has to replace 200,000 barrels a day from somewhere new. Here is the trap they built. CARB's 1996 unique gasoline blend was designed to fight LA smog. Every refinery serving the state had to retool. Texas refineries didn't. Louisiana didn't. Oklahoma didn't. None of them produce a fuel that is legal to sell in California. The same regulation that protected California refiners from out-of-state competition for 30 years is what makes them irreplaceable now. Then the dominoes fell. In-state crude production peaked at 402M barrels in 1985. By 2024 it was 119M. A 70% collapse. Demand only fell 24% over the same period. Two refineries closed in 6 months. Phillips 66 Wilmington in December 2025. Valero Benicia in February 2026. Combined: 284,000 barrels per day of refining capacity, 18% of state total, gone. California now consumes 511M barrels a year and can refine 488M. The 23-million-barrel gap was being filled by tankers from the Persian Gulf. 200,000 barrels a day routed through one chokepoint 8,000 miles away. The bet was that the Strait of Hormuz would stay open forever. It worked for 40 years. Refiners are now scrambling for medium-heavy crude from Brazil, Ecuador, and Argentina. Same chemistry, much smaller volumes, longer lead times. Stanford's Cummings called it "incredibly tight": 800M to 1B barrels of cumulative loss globally. Average California gas already topped $6 a gallon. If Hormuz stays closed through May, that is the floor. Every state with comparable climate ambitions has at least one of these constraints relaxed. New York can pipe in fuel from Pennsylvania and the Gulf. Texas refineries can absorb a crude shock from in-state production. California stacked all three and routed the gap through Iran's backyard.

@fox5sandiego Just back from visiting my daughter at TCU in Fort Worth. I paid $2.50 less for gas in Fort Worth compared to before I left. Our state politicians are killing us. Highest gas taxes, worst roads. Same thing with electrical prices. Wake up California! 31 years of single party rule

@FOXLA Visiting daughter in Texas at TCU, I live in San Diego. I paid $2.50 less per gallon in Fort Worth. It's not just gas taxes, CA policies are killing us. I thought the government worked for us. Wake up California, stop believing the propaganda, hard data.

@thestevenwoods "Bob" by Drive-By Truckers. tribute to an everyday guy named Bob—church on Sundays (when fish aren't biting), takes care of mama, not flashy or "light in the loafers," the sentiment is folks like him (with classic names like Bob) are fading out in the modern world.

🚨BREAKING: JD Vance dropping truth bombs: “I want every conservative to remember: We can NOT be afraid to do something because the left might do it in the future. The left is already going to do it REGARDLESS.” That’s the lesson of the last 40 years. Time to fight like they do. Do you support this? YES or NO?

@sfmcguire79 Common core was the beginning of the decline. Kids that study stem have to completely relearn math when they get to college. What a disaster. I saw it personally with both of my kids.

NEW: UC San Diego has released a new report documenting a “steep decline in the academic preparedness” of its freshmen. The number of entering students needing remedial math has exploded from 1/100 to 1/8. They’ve had to create a second remedial class covering elementary and middle school math skills in addition to the one covering gaps from high school. 🧵

@mikegiannulis @JDVance They only didn't do it last time because 2 senators who were not part of their main caucus voted against it. There's zero chance they won't do it next time. We need to be aggressive and pass our agenda now.

@JDVance It comes down to trusting the Democrats not to do it. If you can trust them you don't nuke the filibuster. If you don't trust them, you nuke it. So the question is... Can we trust the Democrats?

Many of my friends (and former colleagues) in the senate are against eliminating the filibuster because they don't think the Democrats will do it. This is just obviously wrong. The reason the filibuster exists is because of democratic senators Manchin and Sinema. Both of them had their careers destroyed by the far left for protecting the filibuster, and you better believe every senate Democrat internalized that lesson.

There are many things in this world that don't have easy answers. Religion provides a multi thousand year proven framework for how to deal with these situations regardless of whether or not you believe. Science is not a replacement for Religion. Invite God into your life and prepare to be surprised.

🚨ELON MUSK: "If you take away religion, I think you get something in its place which is worse than what was there before. You get something destructive like the woke mind virus taking the place of religion. You get dystopian de facto religions that are self destructive. We need some sort of revival of religion or coherent philosophy that people can get excited about."

@chamath You should try being a new grad. My son with BSCS degree no job for a year. Back in grad school. No summer job, last year of grad degree working in school lab. I'm afraid to see what happens at graduation. Build submarines with a MSCS? Maybe that's it.
