@Cantona_Collars Him and Bruce were the first centre back partnership I've seen at United. Both were superb. I'd put Vidic and Rio above him because of what they achieved, but it's probably only Stam and possibly Johnson above him after that.

28 Years Ago Today: After 9 seasons at Manchester United Gary Pallister played his 4️⃣3️⃣7️⃣th and last game for the club. How highly do you rate Pally amongst our great centre backs?

@Hosang @RedMarrow_ I understand that we all want to see good performances consistently, but is there any club in the premier league that has impressed you week in, week out in the time since Carrick has taken over? We probably haven't had this consistency probably since Ole started

@Cantona_Collars Kobbie needs to be the more attacking of the two, whichever they bring in. Casemiro is almost going to be impossible to replace at set pieces in both ends, but we need to make those improvements in the balance of the team

Individually I think that Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro have been absolutely brilliant under Carrick... ... but I do not think they are a good combination, even with them playing great (individually) we regularly lose control of the game in the middle of the park. 1/2

@RedMarrow_ I've never known fans happy that the team are losing so they can prove their point. The fletcher spell also reinforces the great job that Carrick has done since he's come in. I do think Amorim done a lot of good for our squad, but Carrick has taken us to another level on field

Saw a lot of gloating when Fletcher couldn't beat Brighton and was knocked out of the FA Cup. "See, the players are shit!" "Oh, back 3 is not the problem, the players are" "Mainoo is shit!" "Ruben was right" "We sacked a great manager" A lot of confirmation bias was going on. Many fans were giving holier-than-thou attitudes. I bookmarked their posts for future references. I am reading them now and quietly chuckling at their confidence, their audacity to say those things with ultimate conviction and disregard for any notion to the contrary. It's been very entertaining.
Red Marrow@RedMarrow_

The amount of gloating I am seeing from United fans has actually been an eye-opener. Some are genuinely chuffed that we lost that game because they can now peddle their manager propaganda. Because a caretaker couldn't do what a permanent hasn't been able to do in 14 months. Ah well, the battle lines have been drawn. Let's meet at the end of the season. Let's see if the new manager can achieve more than a 31.9% league win rate or not. PS: I am muting this tweet. Won't even bother reading the comments.

@RedMarrow_ I am as well. I was looking for us to hammer this home and embarrasse them. They were there for the taking. Glad we got the win in the end. We played well again after we scored, but it's this sort of stuff that holds us back when challenging for the league

There’s no way you’ve watched football with your own two eyes this season and you conclude that Declan Rice has had a better season than Bruno Fernandes.

@Cantona_Collars I managed to watch the game live. We played better after they scored. We seem to have made big chances without any control of the ball. Just glad to walk away with the 3 points

That was a very strange game that was hard to assess. The first half reminded me of chaos ball under Ten Hag and the second half reminded me of Amorim football. I think we were lucky to get the win but it was a MASSIVE 3 points.

@RedMarrow_ Unpopular opinion but there's no player I've loved more at United since Eric Cantona. I could be way off, but I imagine him as Bryan Robson giving us his best years when we weren't as successful

@Cantona_Collars Spot on Larry. It all depends on the calibre of managers he's up against. I don't know why Keane and Neville wanted Eddie Howe so much. It needs to go to the best person available. The danger is if we do look elsewhere, will the board and fans hold their nerve if its a slow start

I've read a lot of 'if Carrick gets top 4 he deserves the job' – I don't fully agree. If he gets top 4 I believe he has earned the opportunity to put his case forward in an interview as to why & how he can win the league in 2 years time. 👆 That is the stated goal of INEOS

@SydneyChinyadza @RedMarrow_ @MarcusRashford There is no reason for forcing out your supposedly best players without reason. On his day he was great, but he didn't put the effort in. No professional football should be missing training due to drinking the night before. There is no hate for Rashford. He was incredible taking

[Long Post] Eighteen months ago, in December 2024, when Rashford, in a carefully constructed interview with Henry Winter, said, "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," few expected him to still be contracted to Man Utd in big 2026. He and his brother expected the biggest of clubs to come calling, throw in millions in wages, and make him the face of a new club. He waited the entirety of January 2025 to find a club. No one came forward. Finally, Unai Emery held out a hand for him near the transfer deadline. What followed next was a cacophony of PR exercise. Any half-decent performance was hailed as the greatest thing ever. The bad ones were carefully omitted. All throughout the next five months, we heard just one thing: Villa was just a temporary stopgap. There is no chance the loan would be made permanent. He wanted Barcelona. It was his dream. Summer 2025. The entire summer we heard, 'Rashford only wants Barcelona,' 'He hopes to play for his dream club Barcelona,' 'He will reject offers that aren't from Barcelona.' All these particularly weakened Man Utd's negotiating position, and finally, when Barcelona entered the frame, they offered a loan and no permanent deal. They weren't even prepared to pay his full wages and expected United to cover the costs. After much haggling, United managed to eke out a deal that will have Barca paying his wages with a €30m option at the end of the deal. Pretty cheap for a supposed world-class player at the peak of his powers (or so his media friends depict him), right? He had a good start at Barcelona, played some important games, scored some important goals. But soon after the usual problems arose. Not committed enough, not tracking back, running into blind alleys, not looking up for better options, etc. Barca fans started to grow tired of him. Now it's looking increasingly likely that Barcelona will not be triggering his €30m release clause and are looking elsewhere. He is also approaching 30. and earns far too much to not be a starter. So my question to Rashford is: Was it worth it? Was the entire song and dance worth it? Was that interview with Henry Winter where you facilitated your own exit worth it? When you should have been leading our next generation, you started playing media games. When you should have developed your own game, worked on your shortcomings, built on your superb 2022-23 season, and become a leader of the squad, you instead became a reclusive figure, developing this attitude that you did not want it enough at Utd. All those shenanigans, including Belfast, really let the club down when they were relying on you as one of the more experienced and highest-paid players in the world to deliver like Bruno has been delivering in some of our toughest times. You were one of our own. You should have stayed and broken records with Utd. Instead, you let everyone down, including your own talent. All I ask is, was it worth it?
utdreport@utdreport

Barcelona’s interest in retaining Marcus Rashford has cooled. Barcelona’s sources believe he had a golden opportunity to make his mark this month following Raphinha’s injury but did not fully seize it. The club is already exploring alternative options, although sources close to Rashford say no decision has been formally communicated by the Spanish club. There are also concerns over cost — Barcelona hold a €30m buy option, but as things stand, they do not intend to trigger it [@TheAthleticFC]

@SydneyChinyadza @RedMarrow_ @MarcusRashford He invited a journalist to a school to tell him he's leaving, 2 days after a massive derby win. He didn't start because he wasn't putting the effort in. There was a better reaction from Garnacho. Amorim had the balls to demand more from him and Rashford decided he was off

@SeanDoyle1984 @RedMarrow_ @MarcusRashford Rashford never did all those things you are accusing him of. Its the club and Amorim who betrayed him. On the other hand that guy played for so many months with a shoulder injury sacrificing himself for the club

@United_Army_ @Zinchinho21 @markgoldbridge We're the only fan base that shits on a manager doing well. First time in 3 years that We're qualifying for the Champions league and they want to moan about Carrick. You will hear them bang on about standards, but the reality is, it's a success based on where we are now

@Zinchinho21 @markgoldbridge I haven't once said he deserves the full time job, also haven't said he doesn't. Depends who's available. But the double standards and the constant shit from him and his weird fucking fans is so strange. Amorim deserves 16 pre seasons and Carrick doesn't get one?

Amazing how counter attacking and boring football suddenly isn't a problem with these pundits. Very different story under the last two managers. Wonder why?...

🚨🗣️ Owen Hargreaves on Michael Carrick: “Since he took over, Manchester United have been the best team in the Premier League. “They’ve beaten Manchester City and Arsenal, and shown they can execute a strong counter-attacking plan like they did against Chelsea.”
