@McCadeP8 This is proof that league shouldn’t do anything about tanking. It doesn’t always work but when it does it creates a good product

We will never in NBA history see another Spurs team like his. Thunder and Spurs tanked generationally and now the league is going to stop any other team from having the chance to catch up

@NoTechBen What’s the championship round? Last great player to beat SGA in a series was Luka.

Only two guys to beat OKC in a championship round the past two years are Wemby and Giannis. There’s a specific archetype that is their kryptonite.

@POLO_PrOtotype I think it’s cause it feels corny, or forced, given the rest of the demeanor. But we’ll see, dude’s still young and figuring things out.

@NotLikeAr Well their role is different, at least for now. So it depends on how you evaluate “better”. But I expect them both to be at the top of what has been an absolute banger of a draft class in five years.

I’m genuinely curious who will be better in 5 years, Cooper Flagg or Dylan Harper

@BibsCorner The thing that got me, even as a fan of Harper… was the “1 team passed on Harper bit.” It’s like my guy, y’all are just example of tanking done right lol

Looks like yall have 5 lottery picks, including 3 top 4 picks and a generational #1 pick, and added an All-Star/clutch player of the year. If this is an attempt at claiming underdog status, let’s be serious. Just enjoy having a good team. lol

1 team passed on Harper 3 teams passed on Castle 10 teams passed on Vassell 12 teams passed on Bryant 28 teams passed on Keldon Kings had 8 years to give Fox a team Champagnie was undrafted Kornet was a free agent Kings didn't want Harrison Barnes

@JustEsBaraheni Smart not to overthink it. I would’ve only taken one player ahead of him in that draft.

Alarming how quickly Dylan Harper is going to become the Spurs second-best player. Haven’t seen a guard be this relentless at getting to the hoop since Westbrook. Difference is he also has a lot of finesse to his game. Home run by the Spurs to just take the BPA in the draft.

@JamCristopher Better than they looked and smartly tanked for like 4 years to build and seemingly hit on all or at least most of those picks. They’ve also not really been tested yet this year in the playoffs. I don’t think anyone thinks this unhealthy iteration of the Wolves can win.

Spurs turnaround is just something I can’t wrap my head around. 13th seed and 14th seed to a 60 win buzzsaw the next year and they only have 1 all nba player. Wild

@ZachNBA_ I think he just did what I expected. Actually I thought he’d get a triple double tonight. He’s gonna have to get better matching physicality down the road, the Dorture chamber approaches. And OKC is mad physical in the playoffs

@theblockspot They should be in the mix for the foreseeable future. I still have my reservations on Wemby’s long term health but as long as he’s healthy they have a shot or should moving forward. They’ve had a favorable path in the playoffs so far. But that’s why the regular season matters.

Wemby… Best young player since LeBron. Castle… Elite guard at 21 years old. Harper… Elite guard at 20 years old. The Spurs aren’t just great now. The Spurs are built to last for a decade. They should terrify the entire NBA.

@SpursCulture I think they mean allowing the blatant tanking, which the league is suddenly now doing away with. 😂. I don’t agree though, I don’t think you can crown them a dynasty yet without winning. But they’re chasing OKC right now and that’s about it.

@Squirrely_Wrath I get it. It’s easier said outside looking in. He gets roughed up a lot, because frankly that’s all defenders can do to try and limit him. Which I’m fine with, game’s should be physical. He doesn’t need to restrain from meeting that, he needs to be smarter about the force used.

@SeanEricAcosta If he had done it over just a little extra physicality I would definitely be like shame wemby shame but the way he’s been getting treated really all season but especially in the playoffs with much less calls for even more contact, I would’ve snapped. He’s been good at restraint

@WembysCastle Yes, the holding should be called. But not everything is. LeBron, Luka, Wemby and more stars get this kind of physicality. They have to be smart with how they react and do so within the rules. An intentional elbow to the throat is more than just “physical”.

@HOFS0T0 League is in a tough place. They might have to suspend at least a game for this intentionally dirty play. I don’t think, given his record, they should. However, failure to do so could set a bad precedent if this were to happen down the road with anyone else.

my take on the Wemby ejection was that it was a 22 year old that had mental lapse in frustration from being held and grabbed all game… there is 0 evidence Wemby is a dirty player and he will learn from this

@LegionHoops Well just don’t protect yourself by getting a Flagrant, be Smarter. Also maybe Mitch aught to get a tech or two at some point on his players behalf.

@SpursReporter What Wemby did was Flagrant. He should learn from it and move on. Get a tech next time, maybe the coach should step up and get a tech too. But that’s not protecting himself. That’s losing your cool, chalk it up to inexperience and mature. The Spurs will rally a grow from this.

Like I said days ago... What's happening isn't basketball. Between the "blind officials" and a whistle that doesn't respect the very basic rules of the game, Victor (who just came back from a concussion) was finally forced to defend himself. Still, people will always see what they want to make themselves feel better.
SpursRΞPORTΞR@SpursReporter

Get ready for a lot more of this during Game 2 and beyond. It's not rocket science. The T-Wolves have a clear blueprint to counter Wemby’s otherworldly length: Pure frontcourt muscle. 🐺💪🏽 Minnesota is using Randle and Naz's bruising physical strength to push back against Wembanyama's thinner frame, aiming to wear him down and keep him in the perimeter on offense.
