Most people try to get rid of their symptoms. I read them. Dreams. compulsions. recurring patterns. These are not problems to eliminate—they’re messages that haven’t been understood yet. Seba.health

anthropic is using "Mythos" to prepare for its IPO simple not making the model public allows them to make all sorts of claims without having to prove anything pushing a weaker opus 4.7 and shifting harder toward business and enterprise customers both fit the same move

It’s also brought an entire research lab into my life with 25 interns who are really smart and really dedicated and who are as interested in finding the truth as I am and very good at making sure I present the truth we discover in language that will pass the blind peer review process. It’s insane how productive it makes smart people.

@soham_nayak04 I find codex to be far more capable. Claude feels more fun to drive but codex is much more reliable. There’s no comparison in my workflow that codex is better, smarter, and ultimately faster.

Why do you think young people are so sceptical of AI while older people are embracing it? It’s the opposite of what normally happens with new technologies 🙃 I’m sure that the threat to their future jobs is one factor, but it feels like much more than that.

@SebaTheOracle @Freyy_is It is not an insult, it would serve as a way to distinguish your writing from that of AI, if that is a problem that you are having. See the work of @ElishaDLong

People who believe em dashes necessarily mean AI writing are advertising how little offline reading they've done in their lives. It's a drag.

@wordgrammer Can you prove that we can’t do these things? Ask your LLM to disprove your theory. It will probably make you feel stupid.

If you think that LLMs are conscious you must accept a lot of weird conclusions. Like: - we can clone conscious experience - we can reverse time in conscious experience - we can pause and resume conscious experience - we can distribute conscious experience in space

@Wanderlosth But also useful, right? Like I do serious work in many arenas and I’m always frustrated with the ai’s lack of ability but amazed at how fat I can output great stuff. The time line has compressed to weeks instead of years or decades.

I’m always curious what people are writing who say we shouldn’t write like AI. Like are you publishing stuff in journals? Are you writing love letters to your girlfriend? Are you sending emails to your boss? Are you writing a book? What kind of writing are we talking about when we’re saying we shouldn’t write like AI?

Why you shouldn't write like AI Because it's shit writing. Like absolutely bland. It's not this, it's that. Question mark? No, this is the answer. It's like eating, I don't know, sawdust. My apologies to sawdust. It's late at night and essays that I'm reading have the exact same crappy footprint. I've learnt to live with the long hyphen. It's garish. It's out there telling you that hello, uncle, this is AI, but you know what, it might be interesting anyhow. And I've tried to give it a shot, but somewhere along the line it's like the whole paragraph has been attacked by Dementors and they took all the soul from the written words and it's left with these alphabets that juxtapose just enough to make grammatical sense. Yes, your actual writing might be terrible. Or you don't have the patience to type endlessly into the ether, like I do, or like I love to do. I just love to write, so maybe I'm possessed with this demon that every piece of writing needs to have a soul. Maybe it's my unnecessary adulation, no, love, for prose. Too much prose, that too. Or to make that spelling mistak so you just know it's human. Hoo-man. We are all government documents now. Devoid of colour, bereft of whatever bereft means to be bereft of. AI has perhaps made writing easier for a lot of people. And for technical stuff, it's all fine. You're expecting to be bored to the bottom of your stomach, so some outrageous terms, no matter how often they're used, ease the pain a little. But that opinion piece which needs you to make the words be alive, it sucks when AI renders it into this communist level everyone-must-have-the-same-writing blandness. I don't think I want the extra long words - that is just showing off or winning at scrabble - but I do want a little punch in the sentence. The feeling that you said what you actually felt. The occasional slip, the authenticity. Maybe it's just me, but I don't care, this whole tweet is just me anyways. Whatever it is, I swear, I will be nicer when it's got that hoo-man in it. Even to the nasty trolls, who I will mute with a smile because they wrote it themselves. You have to give me one late night rant about nothing. I do spend most of the days telling governments and the RBI what to do, so I'll bloody well rant about what I want to read once in a while.

The biggest mindf*ck scenario in AI: things don’t change that much. Both doomers and accelerationists turn out to be wrong. We are all more productive. Agents deliver automation in the enterprise. Some important scientific discoveries are made. All great. But that’s it.

@SebaTheOracle @Freyy_is That's interesting. I don't recall coming across the word "distinction" in any of my chats with LLMs. Considering that writing styles were getting homogenised, what if they silently tweaked & bounded specific grammatical elements to different regions, just to keep things fresh.

@SebaTheOracle @Freyy_is AI doesn't use these because it's "pretty good at writing". It uses them because it's trained on all the books and other things that professional authors have written. They use our work without our consent, and now they even make our future work seem fake.

I’m a 48 year old returning humanities student. I can confirm the institutions are crumbling to the point that they don’t even care anymore and are just making one last money grab. It’s actually a great time to go to school for those who recognize that a degree is nothing more than a piece of paper it never has been.

Haha you deserve it! You should teach your students how to use AI to improve their thinking and their writing. Then it would be fun. Instead you just say complain. Most teachers are confused bc they don’t use AI themselves. Education is crumbling, the ivory tower is like the tower of pizza now and high school dropouts (like me) are getting published bc we’re smart enough to know how to properly use the tools. My AI is like a high powered research lab that punks like me aren’t supposed to have access to. And in peer blind reviews they wouldn’t dare question who wrote this bc it’s done right. AI is so powerful but so few of us are actually smart and sneaky enough to get it to work.
