@jpegmobb Mine is in the rural area, I'll look after it with everything I have. It took my parents years to build that home.

@penuelist_ Lobola was meant to be a token of appreciation however it has changed into a money making scheme. Religious and traditional leaders could play an important role in changing it into a good thing again. I see some churches are trying to make it great again.

iLobolo has lost its essence. It was meant to bring families together at a time when women were not emancipated & needed men to decide on who gets to take custodianship over them. Today, women can make their own money, buy their own properties, sleep with whomever they want & conceive or abort if they wish... yet they still want men to pay ilobolo for them. And uninformed families think ilobolo was cows or money, when it was actually about gifts & compensation for acquiring an asset, stripping it of its name & making it your own, so you can use it as a helper & a surrogate. Black people need to liberate themselves from these outdated practices. Women need to decide if they want to remain children or want to be independently-minded adults. iLobolo must fall. And formal marriage is outdated.

Modern women spend countless hours building their beauty and bodies to maximize sex appeal and attraction, yet complain about being sexualized. Make it make sense.

Unpopular Truth: There is an income level that is not solely determined by working hard. It depends on the job you do, the country you work in, the organisation you belong to, your position within that organisation, and who decides your salary. And (this is the part that bites the most) who you know and who knows you. VT

@penuelist_ Are you in the top 5% - yes Is it a decent income - no Try buying house, raising a family, saving having basic expenses (insurance, car, med aid etc) then see how far that takes you. It's only decent if you justify it with: "others have it worse" mentality but in this economy..

If you're earning R20,000 per month in South Africa, you're in the top 5% of earners. Social media people lie about what a decent income is. Ignore them & enjoy your life.

@Bavu08 @penuelist_ What he's saying is simple: live within your means. R20k can go a long way if your standards are based on your own reality and not on what you see on social media.

@penuelist_ A bit of an oversimplification if you ask me, considering we live in one of the most unequal socities, in a country where most people have dependants before even touching their first salary.
