Today We Honor David Dorn: Murdered During the 2020 George Floyd Riots! The retired law enforcement officer killed during the 2020 riots was 77-year-old David Dorn. He was a retired St. Louis Police Captain who was shot and killed on June 2, 2020, while attempting to stop a break-in and looting at a friend's pawn shop. The jury deliberated for just three hours before finding Stephan Cannon guilty on all six counts, including first-degree murder of David Dorn, first-degree robbery, and first-degree burglary. In October 2022, Cannon was sentenced to a mandatory term of life in prison without the possibility of parole, alongside an additional consecutive 30 years for the robbery and weapons charges. Four other individuals were also identified and charged with lesser offenses related to the break-in and looting of the pawn shop that night. David Dorn was just one casualty of dozens that innocently lost their lives at the hands of the rioters in 2020.
