@SeeBQ I respect the hustle, but pitching me a funeral before coffee is elite-level startup energy.

This might sound morbid, but are you planning a funeral now or expect to in 2026? I know a new company that offers a simple, supported way to plan after a loss starting with celebrations of life (live!) and direct cremation (coming soon).

That's a first. GPT-5.4 via Codex refused to do a feature, stating it could not help me, that it was too risky to add physical access to a machine. It then suggested a way to do it, so I said fine do that, and it refused to do that too. Wild. It's stuck in some safety loop.

@GovPressOffice You do realize I’m trying to help America eliminate fraud and waste right? No need to try and make me look like the bad guy for exposing fraud. People are over it. Start working for the people and not against them.

@apinstein None of that yet…. I had an old Claude.md but it rewrote the whole thing once and I gave up. And not sure if GPT-codex uses that one. I am also hearing I need to give my agents a soul.md and a memory.md

@SeeBQ Are you giving it guides? Docs? Skills? I have slowly started adding those (often by finishing a conversation with - analyze our conversation for places I corrected you and update our style guide). It is helping every iteration. Cross ref them via a top level index.

Yes, the LLM coding agents are getting better. But still having to really coax them to get a quality PR that a good dev team would accept. "still got a scrollbar on the right, can you just remove it?" "why does it still have a scrollbar? start over on design and don't use it." Is it just me?

@mmealling Yes, if it starts with a bad pattern, it will continue to do it even if you tell it not to. In this case it was using an admin interface design that was totally not suited to this customer facing feature. Hard to get it to stop without restarting from scratch.

@SeeBQ Does it "know" there is a sidebar there? I've seen them add a feature unknowingly because it was part of another "pattern".

3. No phone in the bedroom (by the bed), nor while on the toilet. 4. No cigars. 5. No doubts on the big things that matter: my family’s prosperity, Greenzie’s success, my personal abilities + resolve. (But, continue to still doubt and interrogate reality and the minutiae).

Austeruary is a month-long, self-imposed practice of austerity undertaken in January. The aim is simple: begin the year by voluntarily forgoing easy pleasures to restore agency, clarity, and discipline.

This is the most exciting trend in design. TUIs and GUIs are converging. While TUIs are getting more two-dimensional by the week, I suspect we'll see a trend of GUIs that are rendered (and work) more like modern-day TUIs. Can call that future style, "Tuimorphic."

At the end of 2024 I ditched Evernote and went all-in on Obsidian. A year later… the verdict is painful. It wasn’t “free.” It’s clunky and demands way more discipline than I’m willing to pretend I have. I’m not going back to Evernote, but Obsidian hasn’t clicked either. As we roll into a new year, I’m open to trying something else. What tools are working for you… especially the ones that don’t require a tidy folder librarian living in your head? Drop your recs.

With all these Waymo vehicles driving around, you can pull out right in front of them or cut in lane in front because their reaction time is so good they will slam on the brakes and let you in: no problem and they don’t get mad either. It works with jaywalking too!
