The company was running a billion-dollar conservative Disney bet. Then they made the studio bet bigger. Pendragon Cycle, an Arthurian fantasy series of the kind that has bankrupted larger production houses. Bentkey trying to compete with Disney for kids' attention. Daily Wire+ chasing Netflix. Running a newsroom, a film studio, a children's streaming platform, and a private-label consumer goods business simultaneously requires either limitless capital or extraordinary discipline. Some of it worked. Matt Walsh's "Am I Racist?" was the top-grossing documentary of 2024. Most of it didn't. In March 2024, they parted ways with Candace Owens. She walked into the open market and built a show that competes with theirs. Today she has 5.5M YouTube subscribers and added 10.9M followers across platforms since January 2025, generating roughly 805M views in that window. Daily Wire converted its biggest distribution asset into its largest competitor. Early 2025, co-founder Jeremy Boreing stepped down as co-CEO and launched a solo podcast outside the company he co-founded. Bentkey was shuttered the same year. Entire team cut. Then the audience math hit Shapiro himself. 170M monthly YouTube views in late 2023 to roughly 22M in early 2026. An 85% collapse in 18 months. Another 60K subscribers gone in the last 90 days alone. Layoffhedge.com estimates cumulative workforce reduction above 60% over the past year. Tucker Carlson left Fox in 2023, kept his audience, runs his shop with a fraction of the headcount. Megyn Kelly's network drew 138M YouTube views in February alone. The personalities figured out they don't need the platform. The platform discovered the opposite. Daily Wire built a billion-dollar valuation on names that can walk, take the audience with them, and run a competing show from a laptop the next morning. 170M views to 22M. The company kept the overhead. The audience left with the people.

Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home! Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is. He’s home. Forever! I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, “Jesus.” He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over. In the PS2 era, THQ could ship a Pixar tie-in for under $10M, sell 4M units at $40 retail, and book real profit. The Incredibles, Cars, and Rise of the Underminer moved 25M units combined. THQ pulled $1B in revenue and $68M in profit on exactly this model in fiscal 2007. Then the Xbox 360 and PS3 arrived. HD asset budgets for characters, environments, and animation multiplied fast. A tie-in that used to cost $5-10M now ran into the tens of millions. Review scores stopped forgiving "fine for kids." And the deadline didn't move. Movies ship when movies ship. Warner Bros saw this first. Their in-development The Dark Knight tie-in got killed in 2008. The team pivoted to a Batman game with no movie release date attached. That became Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady built a four-game franchise off that one decision. Every other publisher ran the same math. THQ exited licensed kids games in January 2012 and filed Chapter 11 eleven months later. Disney Interactive closed in 2016. Pixar's last narrative tie-in was Brave in 2012. The last major-studio same-year movie tie-in was Space Jam 2 in 2021, Game Pass only. A 4-million-unit movie tie-in is now a $100M+ investment on a release window you can't slip. Nobody runs that trade.

Having hung out with the man multiple times, can confirm he is one of the nicest and most genuine dudes in his entire industry. The fact he's as good an actor as he is on top of that is why he's so beloved. Which likely contributed to him being stabbed in the back. Too nice and successful for his own good. Luckily, he's still making that bread, they couldn't crush him, and in attempting to the US anime industry revealed to everyone what a cesspit it really is.
