If you borrow $100,000 in the U.S. at 5% interest and invest in 🇳🇬 T-Bills at 16% for one year (WHT at 10%),your estimated profit would be: • $9,400 • 9.4% return in dollar terms assuming the naira remains stable at ₦1,400/$ throughout the year.

Before LLM and subsequently Agents and all its accompanying tools and technologies became a thing ML Engineers have been the ones building products around traditional models which are oftentimes self-managed, where you monitor model drift, data drift and build feature stores from cleaned and business valued data. So, I think AI engineers are those more versed in agents and all its supporting technologies.

You’re also making some assumptions and generalizations. The percentage could also change periodically, not necessarily daily, depending on the underlying instrument. An example is Bond. Some platform even offered Sukuk and what they offer change time to time. What you see is a daily prorated amount. The only difference between this and what people as quarterly earnings from Halal fund platforms is the trust. Such earnings can also be daily prorated.

What you have said here shows you know nothing about contract law and basic finance. In fact, I had to go check your profile, and I can see that you have meddled in a topic you know nothing about. In a locked interest account, your contract is with the financial platform, not the underlying businesses. This means your principal capital is legally guaranteed and safe even if those funded businesses completely crash and burn tomorrow. You are confusing institutional platform risk (the rare event of a bank going bankrupt) with commercial trade risk. See, in reality, true business risk means your daily returns and your principal fluctuate directly with profit and loss. Whereas here, your ₦106k is fixed, flawless, and guaranteed every single day regardless of market performance. Because the platform completely insulates you from operational losses while paying you a fixed yield, they have to recover that guaranteed money by squeezing interest, penalties, and heavy processing fees out of everyday borrowers, making your effortless daily payout the direct product of other people's financial strain. You better learn before you open your mouth Waa!

This topic is always funny to me. 194M he locked in there is being used for business and he gets returns from the businesses. There is risk involved as the company could run into a problem, so it’s not a risk-free arrangement. Like every other business, he's taking a risk by fixing the money, and that profit is an outcome of that risk and the business activity it funds. It is not just money sitting idle generating returns in isolation.

The moment Korra Obidi added her two daughters and even her future children as beneficiaries to her trust, she secured their future. In California, when a property owner d!3$ without proper estate planning, the properties usually have to go through probate, which can take a long time. During that process, access to the assets can be delayed before the children or family members finally inherit them.

Not related, but in the face of this debate of “(don’t) write business logic in the database layer,” I will like to know if modern fintech companies like @moniepointng, @joinkuda, etc., are writing their business logic in the database layer. I had never worked in fintech. But I had worked on heavy business-logic-in-rdms BI system. But the system was transitioned to modern architecture eventually. It’s important to know if all the gains of transaction reliability and data integrity cannot be achieved at the same level in another pattern except when business logic, especially in financial institutions, is coupled with database. Or the early adopters of tech decided against transitioning and evolving their architecture because the cost, in their own situation, is prohibitive. Not that they will lose any performance gain if they’re to develop the same system in 2026.
Onboard@OnboardGlobal

For context, TeamApt was the first fintech to ship this product, and soon, virtually every fintech wanted this product for obvious reasons. Over the next few years, Julian will continue in his role as a Product manager. But TeamApt at that point was undergoing changes.

It looks like a curriculum problem, but it’s actually a personnel problem. People build curriculum and teach curriculum. Curriculum is an evolving and working document. But even if our curriculum does not evolve enough, our personnel strength deteriorates faster. I had 1 year stint as a university lecturer (L2) but I left. Ask yourself: If you’re intellectually mobile enough to do the lifting in this curriculum and teach it, you will stay in the system that pays you N150k after a PhD and the max you could go after years of labor is not up to N700k —to be magnanimous in imagination.
os@segun_os_

this is what I was talking about @inioluwa_05 nigerian universities teach operating system fundamentals but usually not at this depth. they'll sell you an handout that teaches a few os concepts and that's it. the core problem with nigerian universities has never been the curriculum itself.

Software engineering does not end in building web applications. In the face of moving petabytes or heavy CPU-bound data manipulation, ORM would send all your systems memory into the sky. Every tool has its place - where it shines, breaks, or overdo!
COLLINS EFUETANU@CEfuetanu16273

@jayhemz My take is writing pure SQL in 2026 is like using a cutlass when you have a lawn mower. 😭 I literally called a colleague out for this today. If preferring the lawn mower makes me a psychopath, then I guess I’ve lost it! lolz.

You might be surprised of the memory spikes that ORM causes. At least the SQLModel I had encountered in data pipelines where the engineers tested it as if they were minor software data update. I had to rewrite it in SQL just wrapped in plain Python to stabilize the memory consumption.
