Affordable Care Act insurers are asking for the second-highest premium rate in almost a decade. Health insurance companies in the ACA Marketplace are proposing a median premium increase of 14% for 2027, and some are asking for much more. 2.9 million Americans lost ACA care in just seven months since Trump’s OBBB gutted our healthcare system, and now insurance companies are looking to make even more money from those who remain.

Trump's EPA just axed monitoring for microplastics in the country's drinking water for two years. In a new proposal for the agency's Sixth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule, the EPA outlined 30 unregulated contaminants public water systems will track between 2028 and 2030. The list included PFAS but does not mention a plan to monitor microplastics. The UCMR 6 results will determine which contaminants the agency will limit in drinking water. Seven state governors have already petitioned the EPA to include microplastic monitoring.
