Honored to celebrate my Women of the Year this weekend an incredible group of leaders, mothers, advocates, and changemakers who truly represent the strength and heart of Senate District 22. Our communities are stronger because of women like them.

Young women deserve to see leaders who reflect them, and today, we showed them exactly that. I hosted my first WINGS Seminar of the year, a seminar created to empower young women to be the leaders of tomorrow. Today we inspired 60+ ladies to be the leaders of tomorrow!

Last week during #RareDiseaseweek @Looms4Lupus joined @CALifeSciences Rare Disease Lobby Day. We flew in 4 patient advocates Jessica Bracho, Yesenia Hernandez, Kathryn Jackson, Adela Espinoza to stand with @estelamata & @JuanaMataa and many other patients, caregivers and leaders to push for better access and outcomes #Raredisease patients. The California Children’s Caucus launch at the State Capitol wrapped up today, and we were proud to be in attendance for this important step forward for California’s children and families. It was energizing to see legislators from both houses stand together in support of a unified, child-centered legislative and agenda for 2026. The formation of this caucus sends the message that advancing outcomes for California’s children, especially those most vulnerable, must remain a top priority. We are deeply grateful to @AsmMiaBonta for her leadership in bringing this caucus together and for centering the voices of children, youth, and families in the policy conversation. Also in attendance and speaking were legislative leaders who voiced their strong support for the Caucus and its commitment to advancing child-centered policy, including @AsmCoreyJackson @AsmLowenthal @AsmDarshana @JuanAlanisCA @SenAishaWahab @SenSusanRubio Assemblymember Diane Papan, @AsmStefani @AsmRickZbur @AsmLaShae @AsmPilarSchiavo @AsmLizOrtega As Assemblymember Bonta stated, “One fifth of California children are living in poverty in the fourth largest economy in the world. Statement on President Trump’s State of the Union Address

On each of these measures, I remained steadfast in supporting legislation that protects our children and invests in their future. Our kids deserve leaders who show up consistently,in every vote, on every issue. And I will continue to stand and advocate for them, always.

The Children’s Legislative Report Card reviewed 40 bills impacting foster care, K–12 education, child poverty, online protections, immigrant youth, nutrition, health and safety, youth justice, and family court.

I am proud to have stood with children every single time. As a survivor of domestic violence, an educator, and an immigrant, these issues are deeply personal to me. I know firsthand how policy decisions shape safety, stability, and opportunity for families.

“Most people have heard, I was also deported when I was five years old,” @SenSusanRubio told @Elex_Michaelson “You don’t forget," she said. @SusanRubioCA has introduced the “Keep Courts Safe from ICE act.”

NOW: State Sen. @Scott_Wiener (D–San Francisco) is speaking in support of SB 747, known as the “No Kings Act.” The bill would allow Californians to sue ICE officers and other federal agents for alleged violations of constitutional rights. The press conference is taking place ahead of a State Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the bill later today. Wiener said the measure is “long overdue” and that “no one is above the law.” I have reached out to @DHSgov and ICE for response.
