It was a pleasure serving on today’s panel at the League of California Cities alongside Sheriff Chad Bianco, Chief Larry Gonzales, Chief Rudy Lopez, and Lt. William Hutchison. We had an important discussion about the funding needed to support Prop 36, the critical role technology plays in solving crimes, and the importance of community-led policing. These are issues we are all passionate about, and I appreciated the opportunity to share our perspectives and work together on solutions that help keep our communities safe. @CalCities @sbcountysheriff @FontanaPD @OntarioPD @RSO @ChadBianco @burrtecwaste

This week in our Nation’s Capital has been filled with heartbreak, honor, and unwavering pride. Standing beside our Honor Guard, department members who participated in the Police Unity Tour, and the families of Deputy Andrew Nunez and Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. as their names were added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial is something none of us will ever forget. Their sacrifice will forever be etched into that wall, but more importantly, into the hearts of every member of this department and the communities they served so selflessly. To the Cuevas and Nunez families, please know this: you will never walk this journey alone. We will stand beside you today, tomorrow, and always. As we continue our mission of protecting and serving our communities, we will carry Andrew and Hector’s legacy with us in everything we do. We honor them. We remember them. And we will never forget them. @sbcountysheriff

I had the opportunity to meet with our Honor Guard team in Washington D.C. alongside our executive staff to personally thank them for the incredible care, compassion and professionalism they have shown to the families of Deputies Hector Cuevas Jr. and Andrew Nunez during these difficult past few weeks. Their dedication to honoring our fallen heroes and supporting their loved ones reflects the very best of this department. I also want to recognize the countless hours they have committed preparing to compete and represent the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in the upcoming rifle competition. We are incredibly proud of each of them and grateful for the honor, dignity and respect they continue to display on behalf of our department. @sbcountysheriff @pasbcsd @SBCSDeperez

Honored to represent the Major County Sheriffs of America at today’s congressional briefing in the Senate alongside fellow law enforcement leaders and Jim McDonnell of the Los Angeles Police Department to discuss the evolving role of technology in public safety. Technology continues to play a critical role in helping law enforcement solve crimes faster, improve officer safety, and better protect our communities. Thank you to the Senate Law Enforcement Caucus for bringing agencies together for these important conversations and collaborative efforts. @MCSheriffs @sbcountysheriff @LAPDPoliceChief

National Police Week is a time to honor the heroes who gave their lives in service to others and to remember the sacrifice carried by the families, friends, and partners they left behind. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department proudly remembers Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. and Deputy Andrew Nunez, who were killed in the line of duty in 2025. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to protecting our communities will never be forgotten. Their names and legacy will forever remain part of our department and in the hearts of those who had the honor of serving beside them. As we remember the fallen, we also stand beside the men and women who continue to wear the badge with honor each day. We are grateful for the continued support from our communities as we reflect, remember, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
