On World Population Day, I reaffirmed that population planning is not merely a demographic concern, it is fundamentally a human rights, development, and national security imperative. Pakistan’s greatest strength lies in its people, particularly its young population. However, this immense potential can only be transformed into national progress through sustained investment in education, quality healthcare, skills development, employment opportunities, and the empowerment of women and youth. As Chairperson of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights, I emphasized that every citizen has the fundamental right to live with dignity, opportunity, and hope. Unchecked population growth continues to place immense pressure on our economy, public services, natural resources, and social stability. Addressing these challenges requires a coordinated, evidence-based, and long-term national strategy. In pursuit of this objective, I moved the NATIONAL POPULATION COORDINATION AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL in the Senate of Pakistan to establish a permanent institutional framework for coordinated population planning, strengthen federal-provincial cooperation, protect the rights of women and children, and ensure that every Pakistani has access to greater opportunities and a more sustainable future. This legislation reflects our commitment to addressing one of Pakistan’s most pressing national challenges through meaningful and lasting institutional reform.
