🎾🚫 Volleyball dropped the second serve — Should tennis do the same?
Volleyball eliminated the second serve in 1994 — and the game became faster, tougher, and more exciting.
Tennis, however, still grants players a second attempt after a failed first serve. But is that really fair or modern anymore? Critics argue it reduces pressure, slows down the game, and gives an unfair advantage to power servers.
One extreme example of this issue was the 2010 Wimbledon match between John Isner (USA) and Nicolas Mahut (France), which lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes over three days — the longest match in tennis history. Such marathon matches raise important questions about whether the second serve still belongs in today’s faster-paced sports world.
💬 What do you think?
Should tennis finally move on and drop the second serve like volleyball did?
