Yesterday I visited Arlington with the King and Queen. I am always struck by the tremendous sacrifices the US and the UK have made together in the defence of liberty for more than 100 years. We honour the fallen and give thanks to our brave men and women who continue to serve.

Under international law, when you gain a piece of territory in a defensive war, it belongs to you. In addition, there is a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt, and Egypt has no claims over that territory. The Palestinians, meanwhile, did not claim it when it was under Egyptian rule. It passed from Egyptian to Israeli hands, and under international law, it belongs to Israel.
